Well folks the Big Job is winding down.

It is Sunday morning and we are at Don and Meg's church. They don't own it. This is where they go each Sunday to hear God's Word. I really did enjoy the service this day. It was about humility. I am sorry to say I am not sure which scripture he used for the first, second and Gospel readings.
But the neat thing was they all told a story about being humble and willing to serve others.

Got back to their home and need to get this done??? We only have two more days to finish. So the steps are in and one sheet of plywood is in on top.

Don was concern about water getting into the cracks between the house and steps. So he started caulking them in.

This was a hard part of the job, cleaning the old caulk off the wall before laying the new boards down.

Don had his work cut out for him. Getting the old caulk up and out of the way. Plus we stained all the supports that will be holding the plywood in place.

Meanwhile as he was working on all that, I pulled up the old boards and cleaned the nail off. Plus cut up some of the old boards and stacked them up in the truck.

There was a full truck of old lumber and junk. I asked Don if he wants me to help him take all this it the land fill and unload? he told me that is will take a few hours so to get there and unload. Don't worry about it, he will take care of it after I am gone.

Okay now we will work the on  the posts for the railings. To make sure they are cut correctly and ready to install.

Here is Don cutting that old caulk out, the last area.

Don used a straight edge to make sure the screws were lined up and spaced out to make is look good.

Here we are cutting out the 4"X4" post hole.

One thing about Don, he likes thing looking good, when he has some what control about it.

This is Don's beautiful wife, Meg and you already know who this guy is??? Don my friend since 1968. That is correct. Don came to my birthday party back then and we have been friends ever since.
Well we needed a break. So we went to Home Depot and took back one sheet of plywood we didn't need for the deck.

Post are in and ready to rock and roll with the railing. Man this is looking good.

Meg was cutting the grass and took a break to help us set the railing. Meg has been very much part of this deck. Don has asked for her ideas a few times. Which to me is great way to keep peace in a family like this. I know when I work on something at our home I am always asking Jeanne what she thinks for don't

Here Mr. Don is finishing up the kick plate and and the finishing touches.

Folks this was a BIG JOB. But at the end it all came together and looking great too.
As I spent this last week or so with my old friends. I really did enjoy working and getting to hear more about what Don and Meg have been doing since my last time here.
I sure am looking forward in seeing these two coming down our way.
As I have been back here for a little while, it is sure nice to be home and spending my time helping my wife out.
As today is Saturday Oct 2nd. Jeanne and I are working the Home Coming Dance tonight and on Thursday night pass. We feed about 100 people for the school Out Coming For the Football Team Booster Club. We had meatballs and sauce. Chicken nuggets and hot mustard. Chips and dip and all the fitness. I will writing about our times fixing food and how the students came out to help us.
