On Saturday Aug. 3rd we need to get things in order for Monday morning. So, Jeanne asked a couple of her students to come in and help us.
On Monday all the teachers and staff will be back to start getting their classrooms ready and make plans for their students' classes.
Okay Jeanne and I went shopping on Friday and it took us about 2 1/2 hours to get everything we need to make this happen. We went to Sam's Club and Walmart plus a couple of other places to get everything.
As we were at Sam's Club, we always buy the Hormel Black Label Bacon. We got to the refrigerator that always has it. But looked and looked in different areas but didn't find it. So, we bought this bacon. It looks great, thick and very meaty. Plus, we bought the Member's Mark brand (Sam's Brand). Just wanted to check it out. The price on this bacon was a about $1.00 cheaper than the one above.
I am the one that usually make the bacon. It's kind of fun plus I get clean dishes too. It's really nice to have a Industial dish washer too. Just rinse everything off. Now if it has grease on the pans, I always have a pail od Dawn and water with a rag in it. I just get the rag out of the pail and wipe the pans off. The reason is sometimes the dish washer doesn't get the grease off. For a example is these pans with bacon on them. I know the parchment paper on the pans helps. But the grease still soaks in and gets on the pans anyway. No biggie.
I think I went thru this bacon and opened the Member's Mark brand, and it was very thin and just fell apart. So, we need another 12 more pounds of bacon. I left and drove to Sam's Club and brought the Member's Mark Brand back. They were not to happy about that. They told me that they will have to throw it in the trash. I am sorry for that, but this bacon is not working for us. They gave me the money back and I went and bought another 18 pounds to make sure we have enough.
I think I ended up cooking over 300 pieces of bacon. Then cooked the sausage too. About the same amount.
Meanwhile these two girls, cutting up fruit and doing whatever Chef Gray needed.
I think we worked about 9 hours that day. Then Jeanne and I were invited to a 4 H steak dinner at the fairgrounds.
I am sorry, I am very bad about names. But these two have helped us many times before. They really enjoy helping out.
We will be back on Sunday to get the rest of everything ready for Monday morning.
This morning reading was in Acts chapters 11 and 12. A couple of verses popped up to me. 12:5
Before this one verse, Peter was arrested by the Jewish Leaders. He was put into prison and there were 4 squads of 4 soldiers to watch Peter while in prison.
12:5 But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.
Then during the night Peter was asleep in chains. (7) Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel tapped him on the side to wake him and said, Quick! Get up! And the chains fell off his wrists. (8) Then the angel told him. Get dressed and put on your sandal. And he did. Now put on your coat and follow me and angel ordered. (9) So, Peter left the cell, following the angel, but all the time he thought it was a vision. He didn't realize it was really happening, (10) They passed the first and second guard post and came to the iron gate to the street, and this opened to them all by itself. So, they passed through and started walking down the street and then the angel suddenly left him. (11) Peter finally realized what had happen. It's really true! he said to himself. The Lord has sent his angel and saved me form King Herod and from what the Jews were hoping to do to me!
Now this is the funny part. Peter got to the house where the people were praying for him. He knocked on the door and the girl Rhoda came to open the door and realized it's Peter and walked back in and told everyone that Peter was at the door. So, Peter kept knocking and someone else came and open the door and everyone was SURPRISED.
Folks we do pray and when our prayers are answered we are surprised. We shouldn't be.
He does answer prayers, just need to keep praying.
