I know I have already seen the Christmas up before yesterday. But now we can focus on that/ The reason I bring this up is, Remember what Christmas is all about, Jesus Christ's birth.
It is kind of hard to see. In the middle of the picture, there is five (5) homeless people standing there. Since I moved in on the other side of this bridge. (Wymoor) These folks have been standing on this corner each day. They take turns, one guy will be on the street I am now. Then right across the next street going east and west, there will be a couple over there. It really does break my heart that this is the way they live. They stand on the corner and have small signs saying Help me or No job. Now I have noticed that they do not talk with you any more. Maybe there is a law that they can't. Plus there use to be people selling news papers too. So I guess there is laws for this now. All I know is right down the Coconut Creek, the road that is going across this one, there is a soup kitchen next to the church down there. I have ridden by them many times. Around lunch there would be around thirdly (30) on out side of there. I will not judge them for this, but I have known many years ago, how it goes. Hey we can make money standing on the streets and pocket it. Now I do know another thing about the Homeless News Paper. Those folks have to raise $18.00 a day to stay in the place that they have provided. Now I'm not sure, but I would guess the prices have gone up? Then what ever is left over they can live on. Now the places that they stay is a two bedroom apartments. Now please this is what it use to be? I don;t think it has changed that much?
When I first became a Christian, I use to go down on Broward Blvd and the bus station. There was three (3) tents up. Inside of them would be over 300 people living there. As part of the Homeless Ministry at Calvary. We would share God's Word with them and then feed them. At the end of the day, would ask them if any one wants to go to church tonight? I would get around 5 of 8 people, pile into the back of my old Ranger truck. Then bring them to church and then back. After all that ask if they want to get off the streets? There would be maybe one or two say yes. Then we would ask them to meet us at McDonald's the next Monday night. One would show up and we would share about the Calvary House. Feed him and then asked to meet on Tuesday. The real sad part was, after doing this for over 6 months or more. Only one guy got off the streets. His name was Wayne. I use to see him around Calvary many years ago. But as I have been back. Have not, maybe he got married and moved to another area? Really don't know. All I know is this ministry was a hard one to deal with. Most of the time. The guys would tell me, why give up two meals a day and a bed? Now the tents have been down for many years. I know there are other housing now for them. But it break my heart to see how easy it is for satin to get into their lives and give up.
