Okay while looking I found this tire. Continental Gatorskin. Wow very impressive name. Gator skin is some tough skin. Made some phone calls and found them selling for $50.00 and up, each tire.
On line $39.00.
Now this is what I am talking about. FLAT FREE, solid rubber tire. I bought a set for a bike I had in Bahamas. Boy it was a lot harder to ride, I guess the reason was the tire was like half filled with air. I remember one trip I took, I was only a 1/4 way around the round and I was exhausted. These tires have some weight to them too.
I didn't find anything for my size of tire 700CC.
I called around and found Bike America in Coral Springs had a tire as good or better than the Gatorskin. The guy told me that this was on sale too. Half off, boy my lucky day.
I only bought one. Plus the guy put it together for me. While he was working on the tire, I asked him to put the inner liner from the old one into the new one. I guess he didn't hear me. While waling around I over heard one of the other guys ask, would I like to keep the old tire? I said, no thank you, but want make sure the liner has been pulled out, He noticed it was still in there. He told the guy working on the tire, sorry got to take it apart and redo it. Which he did.
Total was $70.20, oh I bought another tube too. I don't want to find out the tire didn't hold up to what it saids.
Afterwards I drove over to Dick's Sporting Goods. Right down the road. I found this tire for, HOW MUCH. Did I read that right, $80.97 that is one tire. I bought this bicycle for $80.00.
Folks I know there is another flat out there for me, but as long as you ride, the chances are there. Just think about your truck or car. One day everyone gets a flat.
Don;t focus on the flats, just enjoy the ride and be prepared.
