Guess what behind all these beautiful flowers?

Okay they are not beautiful flowers, but only weeds and vines. Okay give up? It is our Septic Tank. Last around 11 pm. I got a knock on my door. I am sorry Tom but we think the spetic tank is backed up? So I went out and looked, really no way of really looking until morning. Which this morning I did. Found out the main tank itself is full. Not sure about the soak away. There is no clean out on top. So last night we just locked the doors on the bathrooms and put up a sign. CLOSED SORRY. So I went out this morning and clear some of the bush out and found the clean outs. Sorry to say the tank is full and will need to be pumped out today. The toilets are up again, but no showers.

Okay we had a little trouble with our large bus yeterday, Solar Bus.

Yesterday morning, I got into the Solar bus and no juice. So we tried to jump it, then put the charger on it. No still would not have enough power to kick it over. So we crammed all the kids into one small bus, the Ocean bus. It was a little tight, but we made it to the fort. I came back and check the battery charger, still charging. Left if alone for now. Looked at it around 2:50 pm, great it is some what charged up. I drove it down town and picked the kids up and it is back here charging some more.

The second picture a couple of the leaders. Chris,Marty and Pastor Mike. Hey these guys have been part of the mission trip for over the last 8 years I have been here. It is such  blessing to have leaders that are willing to do what ever it takes to make the trip worth while. I heard yesterday our students rocked on sharing God's Word, down town. I really hope and pray that the seeds they spread will take root and one day see their fruit. Thank you Jesus for what you are doing here and with these kids, plus leaders. It such a joy to call these people my friends and family.

What is going on with my little truck?

For the last couple of days, Bob and I have been scathing our heads on what is going on? Okay on Friday when trying to start it, it was making a growling noise. Plus it would not start. So you can see we are trying every thing we can think of. We got that new part in the crankshaft senor. It did help any. So we took apart the timing belt area. Okay thinking maybe the timing is off. No, it is right on the money. So on Monday I will go out and buy a new starter, then we will go from there. Not sure what is going on? Well ad least we are trying?????
I really am sad to say, how much I depend on this truck. Just a couple of nights ago, I was sitting home thinking what to eat now? Oh that right I need to eat what I have at home, No TRUCK.
I will thank Him in the morning and thank Him in the evening. I bring glory to YOUR NAME. Thank you Jesus for what I do have and what I have had. It is HIS STUFF any way.

We had a rocking time at Adam's birthday party.

Okay now just think you are 5 years old. And then WOW, Spider Man shows up. How can it get any better? It really was nice party yesterday. Mark and Kim Wallace gave this party their best shot. Hey around 9am, Kim and Mark and family member were setting this up. They hung banners and had 100 balloons, PLUS. I am sad to say I needed to do some work on my truck, so I didn't get to spend that much time with the kids and parents. But while I was working on that, I could see the train go by and then saw our friendly gorilla come out and say hello to every one. The food was off the chain plus. Then looking around there was so much to do. I really believe every one really enjoyed themselves and the kids too. Like I said, I wish I could have just walked around and taken pictures of the set up, itself. WOW. I really hope Adam can look back and say my mommy and daddy are the best. Not just because of the party, but just knowing them alone, is the love they have for him.

Mr Bob is still welding hi heart out.

Okay on Thursday I was planing on working on the trolley. You know keep taking it apart. During lunch time I was driving over to the Camp. I stalled the truck. Could not get it started again. Okay what wrong NOW. Bob and I towed it back to the Centre. Which that alone was a blessing. Just think if I broke down on the other side of the island. I know not that big of a problem, but I am still blessed by where it did. Bob and I looked and looked. What is the problem? Okay it will turn over then stop and like kick back. Bob was telling me about this sensor on the crankshaft. He was saying that is what controls your timing. So, Bob asked his friends back in Canada, what he thinks. He said the same ting. It sound like the crank shaft sensor. So on Thursday I stater to check it out. Mean while I had a good T shirt on. which you can see how I have good clothes and then not to good. My plan for the day was to tear apart the trolley. I found the part at AID last night. So today will be the real truth.

Oh during the day I was bus driver too. I took my group to All Saints Camp. There they had a couple of jobs to do. Most of it was clean up around the building and cleaning the bath rooms and areas.
The next group had a Fun Day at the ALC. Our staff went to go pick up half of the students at Gamber School on the north west side of the island. Then brought them back to the Centre. They spent the day there and then back. So over all this place was jumping.
Today they go down town and spend sometime sharing the Gospel with the people in town. Plus I think it is a Fun Day for them too. I will drive them there and drop them. Then around 3pm pick them back up.
My plan for the day is to get my truck back on the road. I think Bob will be right along side on me. Hopefully.

I found out how to get around the Goggle Circle problem on the computer. I just down load them to a file and then drag them over to the file I need to use to share with. I little bit more work getting all the pictures down loaded to the files. BUT it ad least I can get pictures to the blog now. Thank you Lord and help me look towards You every minute of the day.

Not sure what is going on?

Since Thursday after noon I have been having troubles again with, now. The camera I have been using is a smart phone. I am not using the phone part. But I think is take great pictures. You know, take them and send them to my files and there they are. Okay my problem is when I send them, they come up as the Goggle circle. The green, red, yellow and blue centre. I have asked a guy to take a look at it. But he has some other things to do first. So hopefully by tonight I will be able to put the pictures on my blog and files.

Folks maybe God is trying to show me something here. You know, I might look at this blog as my new god? I don't know if that could be true? Every time I open it up I do look and see how many people have been checking it out. The day before count. The numbers have been going down. Not sure why. But maybe this is God's way of showing me that this is not that important.Which I know it is not. But I do love to share pictures with you all out there and just let you see how much He has blessed me to be part of this ministry here at the Adventure Learning Centre. The word HUMBLE comes to mind when ever He shows me things like this. Please Lord let me use this to bring GLORY to YOUR NAME.

That right we have our NEW TOY out and playing with it.

For the last couple of days Bob has been working on the saw horses for building a new trolley. Well we took a break from that. So Bob could re weld our old Troy Buit lawn motor. That right this has been down now for over three months, maybe more? We got the new parts a while back. But I know it needed to be welded up to do it right.  So Mark came out yesterday and asked what will it take to repair it? The guys that cut our grass have much to do and it would be nice to have the large lawn mower up again. So here goes. So now Bob had to cut the deck up a little to make every thing line up correctly. You can see on the picture above. Cut and then put in a piece of tin and re weld it up. The problem has been for many years, the gears and blades are not line up correctly. So to realign Bob had to bring out the torches and here goes. Today hopefully he can re weld it back and every thing should line up in order.

Just a note, Today the 8th graders are coming in to stay with us for 5 nights. This is the group that comes from Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, Fl.  What I am asking is for prayer for their time and safety while driving around the island here. Plus just for them to experience God presents. I know He has many tings for them to do and my prayer that they are ready and willing to be up for the challenge.

These are pictures from last CCA that came in Jan 5th 2013.

I really love when things come together.

Okay Tim and I worked on the book shelves we started last Tuesday. Next week we have two more to build. While that was going on, Bob is moving forward on his welding. He has four saw horses to make. Today he will be putting on the supports. So hopefully by this next week we will be starting to take apart the old one. Oh I worked on taking the old one apart. Bob gave me a idea on how to do that. Use the new impact wrench. Now as we have the larger air compressor. It worked great. Tim helped me with that too. Oh one more ting happen yesterday. Tim and I built a new work area. The scaffolding we used to build the book shelves. Well why not put a larger board on the top there. Bolt it some what down. Now we have a moving work bench. It looks like it should work great for the break machine too.

Plus we can move it any where we need it. It is heavy. But it should be a big plus for our work area.
Today I need to get the new school bus on the road. You know the bus that Calvary Chapel gave us a while back? The reason we have been waiting on doing that was. We really wanted to paint it first and then get is running. But as tomorrow is coming, so is the 8th graders from Calvary. That means we will need another bus to pick them up. There are going to be around 96 people here at the Camp, staying. Maybe afterwards we can take it back off and paint it? Or maybe take the Ocean bus off the road for now? Not really sure at this time. The real sad part is all our buses are rusting out really bad. Not sure how to stop that. The frames are okay, but the body.
Not sure why the pictures came in above. I am trying to give a story and then pictures? Oh well, ad least you can see what I am trying to tell you.

Have you heard about the plastic ting about mararine?

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC-Fiction!We found no support for this.  Perhaps whoever wrote this heard a discussion about the "plasticity" of margarine.  It is "plastic" at room temperature meaning that the shape of it can be changed when pressure is applied.  That doesn't mean it is composed of what we normally think of as plastic. It was originally made of animal fats but increasingly now is made from vegetable oils.

This is only one site I found any thing about this. I heard about this a year or two ago. I have some friends that live on another island. They were telling me about the one molecule away from plastic. I have looked before to find any thing about it. But this is the only site I have found that even talks about it. Now like I said this is the only one site, I know about it. Please I know there has to be a lot more. But here is what I have found out. The following has all kinds of facts about butter/margarine. The only reason I have brought up this subject is I was shopping and said to myself, why not butter. I have been eating Shedspead for many years, let us try butter? It really does taste better and I guess it is better for us too. Hey like I said the following there is a lot of facts and ting, ENJOY READING!!!!

The Truth: The heart of this eRumor, the comparison between butter and Margarine, has been circulating since 2005.  Later versions added the tidbit about Margarine being manufactured to fatten turkeys.

We'll go through the email one fact at time but it needs to be kept in mind that not every Margarine product is the same.  There are other spreads that are loosely called Margarine but may, for example, be part vegetable oil or a fat-free Margarine product.

1.  Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed The turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a Payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this Product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food Appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in Place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever New flavorings-Fiction!According to the National Association of Margarine Manufacturers, Margarine was the idea of a Frenchman named Hippolyte Mege-Mouriez in response to a request from Emperor Louis Napoleon for ideas for a substitute for butter.  In 1869 he used margaric acid and the name of his formulation became known as Margarine. It became a hit in the United States in the late 1800's.2.  Both have the same amount of calories-Truth!A tablespoon of butter is 100 calories.  A tablespoon of Margarine is 100 calories.3.  Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study-Truth! But Updated! We didn't find the "53%" study, but Harvard School of Public Health has published a report on this.  It says that more than 30 years ago research indicated that saturated fat (such as in butter) was bad for the heart and people were told to switch to margarine.  A Harvard study of women between 1980 and 1994 found a significant reduction of heart disease risk by reducing smoking, hormone treatment, and dietary improvements including reducing or eliminating saturated fat (such as in butter.)  Further research has shown, however, that some margarines contained trans fat, which was even worse for the heart than saturated fat.  The report cautions us not to make decisions as a result of just one study but to consider the body of recent research about an issue like butter versus margarine.
4. Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 Grams-Truth!A tablespoon of butter is 7g of saturated fat.  A tablespoon of margarine is 2g of saturated fat.5.  Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other Foods-Unproven! We could not find anything definitive about this.6.   Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added!  It depends on what you are measuring.  The advantage of butter is that it is a more natural product than margarine and does have more vitamin content.  But butter is high in saturated fat, which is associated with increased heart attack risk.  Saturated fats are the ones that are solid at room temperature and increase the "bad" cholesterol (LDL) as well as the "good" cholesterol (HDL).  The disadvantage of true margarine is the trans fat level.  The more solid a margarine is at room temperature, the more trans fat it contains, as much as 3 grams per tablespoon.  Margarine makers have responded to that by releasing tub or liquid products that have either reduced or eliminated trans fats.  Watch for the labels.  Heart doctors recommend butter over normal margarine but recommend trans fat free margarines over butter.  It all gets very confusing.  There are even margarine products now that say they actually lower cholesterol.

7.
Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods-
A Matter of Personal Taste!

8.
Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for Less than 100 years- Fiction!Margarine was introduced as an inexpensive alternative in France in 1869, according to a history found in the Margarine and Spreads Association in the United Kingdom.
9.   Margarine is high in trans fatty acids-Truth!
10.  Margarine triples the risk of coronary heart disease-Unproven!Although trans fats are to be avoided, we did not find any research that says that the use of margarine triples the risk of heart disease.
11.   Margarine ncreases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)-Truth!
12.   Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold-Fiction!We could not find any substantiation of this claim.13. Margarine lowers quality of breast milk-Truth!We didn't find any research on this but there are studies on how a mother's eating of trans fats affects the level of trans fats in her milk. One study, for example, comparing Canadian breast milk to Chinese breast milk found that Canadian mothers had 33 more trans fats in their milk than the Chinese mothers.  So the quality of the breast milk can be affected by the consumption of trans fats.
14.  Margarine decreases immune response-Truth!We found several references to this including an article by nutritionist Dr. Mary Enig that said that consuming trans fatty acids "Affects immune response by lowering effeciency of B cell response and increasing proliferation of T cells."15. Decreases insulin response-Truth!Actually the trans fat can increase blood insulin levels, which increases the risk for diabetes.16. It was originally made of animal fats but increasingly now is made from vegetable oils.Updated 3/29/07

Just a reminder

Today my son flies out to go to Baltimore, Maryland. That right this young man is going over to the states this after noon. (5pm) This last week he has been been some trouble with his stomach. He went to the doctor and they gave him some drugs to help. I called him yesterday and he told me that he was doing much better. But like I said he will be flying out tonight. So I ask for some prayers for him (Kevin) for traveling and for his stomach problems. He will be gone for a week. I really want him to have a great time and I know by prayer he will. Plus just getting there and back. He has been waiting to do something like this his whole life. He has been to a couple of  the islands here, but ever to the states. So please if you think about him, say a prayer or two. I will keep you all posted, IF he e mails and send me pictures.

Open house yesterday.

Hey Sean and Mark talked last week about maybe opening the Centre for the neighbor hood. Just invite the people around our area. So I guess Mark and Sean walked around last week and asked around. So the gate was open around 1pm. There was a small crowd but they really enjoyed themselves. Mark made up pop corn and Miss Faye cooked up some hot dogs. Then Mark, Michele and Sam took them for a train ride. At the end Mark showed them our new movie, The Grand Canyon full screen. It really was a blast to watch how much fun the kids had.

Okay I know it is Saturday, but my friends need a screen door.

So Bob and I went out and looked for a new screen door. Man, we went to Kelly's $80.00. Topps"s $149.00. City Lumber $66.00. This is with our discount too. Now that is a big difference in prices? I am so happy that we went to so many places to look. Most times we need something we just go and buy it. But for this door we did shop. Had some trouble with the sizing. The door frame we are using is the OLD Cabin #3. So there was some custom work needed. At the end it looks great. I forgot to take picture of the finish work.

We have another baby, sheep?

I was walking around the pet farm last night and notice our new baby.I get them mixed up, tail up goats and tail down sheep, I think? That is so neat how the mom just pushes them out and cleans up the mess. Not sure of his or her name yet ?

Why Majority Rule in the Bahamas?

DPM Davis on Majority Rule Day in Andros, Bahamas

Residents of the South Andros Community celebrate the first Majority Rule Day in The Bluff, Andros. // Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Philip Brave Davis and HE Picewell Forbes area MP along with community leaders in Andros on the first Majority Rule Day event in the Bluff.

Remarks by the Hon. Philip E. Davis, MP Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Works & Urban Development at the first Majority Rule Day Celebrations  in Andros on  Friday, 10th January 2014:

Good Morning!

To my distinguished ladies and gentlemen, and dignitaries…

Happy Majority Rule Day!

It is good to be in the heartland of the Bahamas - in the rich communities of Andros where great and noble Bahamians reside.

It is an even more humbling experience for me to be here today because it is the first Majority Rule Day, an historic victory that was foretold by your very own Rev. Euthal Rodgers of Deep Creek who told Lynden Pindling just before the January 10th, 1967 election that victory was at hand.

He cited the Book of Exodus, chapter 12 that said;

…the Lord would deliver the children of Israel from bondage in Egypt on the tenth day of the first month.

I believe by divine providence, as Christians around the world moved into the season of Epiphany, so did we as a nation see a new beginning for our people.

On January 10th 1967, a great movement began to echo throughout our country – a loud call for Change.

A Change that began in 1953 with the birth of a movement that began to prepare our people for a new day in our Bahamas.

A Change which was felt in the 1958 General Strike, when taxi drivers demanded their fair share of opportunity.

The Change that was felt in 1962 when women all across the Bahamas were given the chance to vote for the first time in their lives.

This day we celebrate today began the breaking of social shackles that limited the movement and the future of our people.

And, as men and women of that time joined forces to change the Bahamas forever, January 10th, 1967 delivered the promise to our people – that all men are created equal under our Creator God.

Andros,

I’ve joined you today because you were among the first to Believe!

You were the first of all our great Family Islands to sign onto the movement that led to the change in the destiny of our countrymen and woman.

You were among the first that led the nation into the fulfillment of the promise of equality and justice for all.

You were among the first to stand fearlessly against the brazen acts of injustice that for years had become commonplace in our country.

And you were the first to send to Parliament two great Voices of Freedom – Clarence Bain and Cyril Stevenson – part of the ‘Magnificent Six’– following the general election of 1956.

Therefore, as we mark this day – and embellish it through these celebrations – let us pave the way and inspire the next generation to build a brighter, more prosperous and peaceful Bahamas.

Let us renew the call first envisioned by the men and women who have gone on before us…

Let us renew the dream laid down by our founding fathers – who in 1953 delivered a Platform to the nation to build this land we call home.

On this day let us all recommit ourselves to providing higher standard through education.

Let us all recommit ourselves to the promise to provide better standards for hardworking farmers, fishermen, civil servants, taxi drivers, straw vendors, great artisans of craft, builders, and educators all across our nation.

As we mark this Day of Freedom….

Let us remind young people everywhere that our march continues….

Let us remind the youth that it began long before we demanded “Equal Pay for Equal Work” in 1942.

Let us remind young people – that it began long before a time when women spearheaded the fight for the advancement of social justice and gender equality through the local suffragette movement in 1949…

It began long before a time when young Bahamians lacked access to a quality Education.

It began long before the great march toward Majority Rule, which launched a movement for our people to believe in themselves.

And it began long before January 10th, 1967, when Bahamians everywhere, of every race, colour and creed, saw the vision that the time had come: “To wipe away the tears from every eye”.

This is our story.

This is what we celebrate.

This is what we must never forget.

And so…

As we march on Bahamas…

…LET US march to new heights and boldly break down barriers that divided us all…

– let us triumphantly march this country forward!

Let us with Faith in our heart and unshaken by the road set before us… move forward despite odds stacked against us….

Let us move Forward knowing that this is our time to carry on the vision to build a brighter Bahamas –

…one that will be enjoyed for generations to come….

Let Us Move Forward to build a Bahamas that will become a jewel of the Caribbean and an envy of the world!

Happy Majority Rule Day Bahamas!

Thank You Andros…

And may God Bless Us All….

I know yesterday was a holiday, Majority Rule Day.

We you can see Tim and myself where working on building book shelves. During our time, I was trying to help and I didn't take any pictures. Tim made a comment, how come no pictures today? I just got wrapped up on helping him. So after that I tried to take his picture. But he told me no, not now. So a couple of times I tried. Oh you can see Bob was with us too. He has been working on build saw horses. You know welding pipe together to be able to hold a around 1000 pounds. So we worked until around 2pm. We did finish one of the book cases. Got it installed and ready to use. We hope on Tuesday to make the other one up. Then put them in and make sure they fit. Then take them back out and have the girls paint them or stain. They should work very well for what we were thinking about.

When we get 100,000,000, that's one hundred million willing Christians to BOND together, voice their concerns and vote, we can take back America with God's help. Become one of the One hundred million, then let's get 200 million. It can be done by sending this email to your friends and one back to me. Do the math. It only takes a willing heart and a fed up soul. God Bless America and Shine your light on Her..
