The pump on the right, shot

I have a qiestion for all of you our there.

Let me first start out with what has happen. Two weeks ago I bought a new 2 horse power well pump. It cost us $655.87. That is after we did some shopping here on this island. Just to let you know who Bob is. Bob and his wife Fay come each year to help us out here at the ALC, they are both retried and stay here for three months helping any where that is needed. Okay last Tuesday morning we took out our old pump, it was fried. During this time we had to go buy fittings and things to make it fit. Okay we got the new pump in and ran it. NO PRESSURE pumping out of it. So we rechecked everything that we did. Still no pressure. Okay I called the place where I bought the pump. The guy that over sees the pumps, told me to bring it back in and he would look at it. So Bob and I got the pump and drove over to the place. The guy, Johnny, not his real name, he looked at it and said let us try rewiring it. so he did it. I asked him to test it. He told me that they didn't have any place to test it. (220 volts). So he told us to reinstall it, see what happens. Bob and I went back and put it all back together again. Still not pumping. I called Johnny again, he said bring it back again. I said why???? you don't have any place to test it. Could you send someone out to us here at the ALC? He told me that he would call me back. Which he did and told me that someone would call me that day and see what we can do. The guy called and told me that he would be out to see what our problem is, in a hour. He showed up and checked all our work on it. He was not sure why it didn't work. He told me maybe the check valve in the well was not working correctly. I told him that I would work on it tomorrow. Being it was after 5pm. I didn't want to hold him up any more. We all walked out to his truck and we got to his truck, he tells me that would be $90.00 please. I looked at him and said WHAT? I explained to him what has happen and he tells me that the plumbing store doesn't pay him. he works for himself. I told him that I was sorry but I don't think this is my problem? He left, not happy at all. I thought during the night about our talk, I came up with this. Okay now if the flapper valve doesn't work correctly. I believe we should pay him, the check valve doesn't have any thing to do with the pump it self. I talked with Adam, my boss. Explain what I think. He said okay, sounds fair. Bob and I took apart the piping that goes to the well. Replaced the check valve, still doesn't work.
You guys still with me???? Okay so Bob and I took the new pump out and found another one. It works great. This morning I took the new pump back and asked for the manager. He came out and I explained it all to him. He said the guy that ask someone else to come out was wrong. He understood what I was talking about. He gave me back our $655.87. End of story. Oh the pump we are using now, cost nothing. The reason was, Bob found it in our small trailer. It was sitting there all this time. My thinking was, it was JUNK. We tested it and the motor worked. I just looked at the pump again this morning, works great.

How to stop GOSSIP

Mildred, the church gossip, and self-appointed monitor of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business….
Several members did not approve of her extra curricular activities , but feared her enough to maintain their silence…
She made a mistake, however, when she accused Frank, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his old pickup parked in front of the town's only bar one after noon. .
She emphatically told Frank (and several others) that every one seeing it there
WOULD KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING !
Frank , a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just turned and walked away…He didn't explain, defend, or deny…He said nothing….
Later that evening, Frank quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house ...walked home
. . .and left it there all night !!!

Only in America

Only in America .....do tores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
Only in America.....do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.
Only in America.....do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.
Only in America.....do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.
Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.
Only in America.....do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.
EVER WONDER ...
Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?
Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?
Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?
Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?
Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?
Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons? Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?
Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?
Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?
You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!
Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?
If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?
If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

Yes it has started again.

Patmos #5 is apond us. I am so happy to be able to tell you all that we are doing #5 already. I remember showing you all #1 group. Well yesterday they all came in on a plane. No ships or any other way. But they got here and then they had to walk from the airport to Adventure Learning Centre, that is a 11 miles. I was talking with them and one of the students, told me that it was a great time to meet each other and have good fellowship. They all made it here and I can say thank you Lord for protecting them. Like I told you in the pictures, 12 guys and 8 s. This is a full house and I know Pastor Chet is soooooo happy too. While you have 10 kids or 20. The more the better. Just talking with some of them. I know at least 5 of the students, I know. I have not gone around and talk with everyone, but they remember me.
I am asking you all out there to keep them all in prayer and let us watch what God has planed for these next four months. That is right 4 months, 16 weeks. They will have a rough first week. So PLEASE pray for them. I will try to keep you inform on all that goes on and let us bring Glory to Him, for this time.

Patmos #5 Starts today. Sunday service.

How Adam got Eve, ENJOY

Adam was hanging around the garden of Eden feeling very lonely.
So, God asked him, 'What's wrong with you?'
Adam said he didn't have anyone to talk to.
God said that He was going to make Adam a companion and that it would be a woman.
He said, 'This pretty lady will gather food for you, she will cook for you and when you discover clothing, she will wash it for you .
She will always agree with every decision you make and she will not nag you and will always be the first to admit she was wrong when you've had a disagreement.
She will praise you!
She will bear your children and never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them.
'She will NEVER have a headache and will freely give you love and passion whenever you need it.'
Adam asked God, 'What will a woman like this cost?'
God replied, 'An arm and a leg.'
Then Adam asked, 'What can I get for a rib?'
Of course the rest is history............!!!!
Send to all the women who need a good laugh and the men you think can handle it.

The pictures below show you a couple of things.

The first one is the corner that most people miss and do run into our fence. This guy was not even close to the corner. Then if you look at the fence yourself, you can see we have had other stop in and drive off. It really is funny to think how this corner has been here since God knows when? Then you come out in the morning and see that we had a visitor during the night. Most of the time when someone stops by, they don't wait for someone to open the gate so they can drive out. They will just drive under the fence and drive off. Like nothing happen. I have come in during the morning and seen bumbers and head light part and even parts of a fender.
We have talked about getting some real large rocks to set in front of our fence. Then we talked about getting some 55 gal drums and filling them with water, then seal the tops on. Looking around the neighborhood, they have pole filled with cement, knocked down. Garud railings, even old cars. The only trouble about all these things are. Someone could get really hurt or even killed by flying around the corner and hitting one of them. I am not sure what can be done. But I do know I have something else to fix. So God will be Glorified by our repairing it.

This is the damage that was done to our fence.

The picture you see beow here.

Yes each and every day we see trucks pulling and dragging junk down the road. That is right each and everyday this happens. Just before I took this picture a police officer stopped on the other side and ask the guy where he was going? Then the police officer just drove off again. The car dump that I am talking about is right around the corner of the ALC. Just stay on the same road and it is only about 1/4 mile down the road. Like I said before almost everyday you can hear something being dragged down the road. Even at night, I have heard them. Then they just drop the car or what ever in front of the dumps gate. I have driven by and saw two or three cars or trucks sitting there. Only in the Bahamas.
I was just told by Adam that someone else has driven through our fence at the Camp. This happen around 4pm. The guy driving was blistered. Drunk and Adam told me he smelled weed too in the car. The police officer drew up the ticket and let the guy go. Now it is up to the guy, if he wants to fix our fence, Great. But if not the court will have him do it. Now that could take a couple of months or even years. It is only a traffic ticket. No other ticket was given. Adam ask me about, why didn't they charge him with DUI. I told him that they really don't enforced it. There really is no law about driving and drinking. They even have a drive through bar on East Street. I will have some pictures tomorrow on this.

This truck was going to the dump.

We here at the ALC tings happening.

Yes yesterday we were visited by a couple of guys. Vick and his helper, Carlos. They were here to help us change out our bee hive. We have had a bee hive here for many years. But by looking at the picture you can see it has grown and you really can't see what is going on inside there. So Vick came to help us out. The pieces you see on the floor are what the bees will be living in. Instead of that big old barrel. Plus we will be able to control their honey and just be able to see all that they do as bee' s do. Just listening to Vick and Laura, (staff here), they were telling us all about them and all that they do. I could start to tell you too, but I would not have all the facts right. So if you want to learn about bees, check it out yourself on the web pages.
It sure is neat to see how God has made them and all of what you do too. The body suits are ours and Laura and staff will be the bee keepers. So down the road I will keep you inform about more that is going on. I would show you the new hive but yesterday ran short and Vick told us he would be back today to finish moving them. He told us that around 2 to 3 pm they all come back to the hive after working all day long. So he was concern about all that will be needed to move them. So today I hope to get more pictures.

This is what is going on here at ALC

It makes you want to think, what have I done?

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.
But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp--
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.
There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbour
Who never said anything nice.
Herb, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.
I nudged Jesus, 'What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.
'And why's everyone so quiet,
So sombre - give me a clue.'
'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock.
No one expected you.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JUDGE NOT
Remember...Just going to church
doesn't make you a Christian,
any more than standing in your garage
makes you a car
Becareful when you get inviited for dinner????
Yes last night I was inviited to a friends' home for dinner. We had a great time. You know eating some good food and then playing the game Fish. You know the card game you play when you are around 3 to 10 years old. Yes I can tell you this I even lost the game three times in a roll. What gives?????
Okay back to the story, so after dinner Jerm, Billy's brother, ask me to look at a small problem. They noticed a little hole in one of the copper pipes. I looked and told them maybe we should replace it all. So last night after I left for home. They worked on chipping out the wall and getting it ready for today project. I got there a little after 8am. We finished around 1:30pm. The real neat part is we all did some work on it and it works still. No leaks. Thank you Lord for the wisdom and the willingness to get it done right.
These are some of my friends. Slater's
I know I have my stores a little mixed up.
That is okay, it is a new year and I know I will make even more mistakes coming. I just got back from the Junkanoo paraded. I didn't get there until late morning. It starts at 1am. I got out there around 7:40am. This will go on until around 11am. Depends on how fast the group RUSH through. You can see a couple of pictures that I have taken of this. Folks I have been to, four of these. So I just go down now to up date my pictures and just watch for about a hour and then get back home and enjoy some more chicken souse. Plus send this out to all of you. The paraded is done each Boxing Day and New Years day too. They are not aloud to use the same theme or costumes. That is why it is so neat to see and just get a taste of the Rush. If you look at these outfits. There are some as big as a house. Those usual have two or more people running them. I just love to show off my people here and let you know that some of these out fits cost over $20,000. 00 dollars just for one large one. They don't do it for the prize money, one group gets around $50,000.00 winnings. So just by looking at these couple of pictures. Just think about it, I told you this starts at 1am then ends around 11am the same day. That is a lot of outfits and families. The reason I say families, is that is what the groups are called. Example, Roots, Saxens, Valley Boys and One Family too. There are ,(I think 6 Families) Plus there are others too that just love to get into a costume and Rush with the big boys. Folks these people work on this starting in Feb again, 2009, for next years.
Happy News Years Day to all of you out there.
I have talked about this before, but is it really 2009??? Yes it is and let us start the year off right. Last night I took my neighbors, next side ones. To church, Watch Night Service. Here in the Bahamas and other islands they call it that. I think because you are watching the year end and start that same night. It really is a good time to reflex on all He has done in your life. Pastor Lee did a short teaching, it was on being content in all you have and why worry about the next day. He is still running the show and He has not left you. Please folks I am hearing all kinds of stories about people loosing every thing and still having His joy. That is what He tells us. Trust in Him and ( I like to say) hang on to His straps and be ready for a ride of your life.
I sure can tell you all that He has been soooooo faithful to me and I love knowing that He will never leave us or for sake us. His Word said so. Hebrews 13:1 to 6. Please when you get a chance read those verses. I believe you will be BLESSED and BELIEVE WHAT HE IS SAYING. BELIEVE IN HIM.
