One day tires, next gone

Please keep our things in prayer

If you have read the story under this one you will understand our dilemma. I am sorry to say during last night our neighbors came by to get a couple of items. By looking at the Taurus you can see something more is wrong. The tires are being used by someone else. At this time we think it is them. We really don’t have any proof. But if you have been reading my blog for anytime, you will hear of other things missing. So PLEASE keep us in prayer for our things here and we now really do need more transportation.

Prayer Needs

Last Thursday morning Pastor Dan and his family were traveling near downtown, Nassau. During that time he noticed some noises in the front end. Whiling driving he noticed again another noise and then the steering started being hard to drive. He called me and asks what I thought it could be. I really was not sure, but I told him about a garage around the corner where he was at. So he drove there ( in prayer) and right after pulling in the driveway, the steering stopped working all together. He told me that he could spin the steering wheel, without any force at all. He got out and saw the engine lying on the ground. The main frame that holds the engine in place gave way and there it sits. You can see the picture about what has happen. The guy there told Pastor Dan that he could not repair it. Plus he said in all of his years (40) working on cars and trucks, he has ever seen anything like this.
My prayer requests are, we need another car and truck to be able to do God’s work here. All we have now is the buses (3) and a Jeep (for the staff to use). So if anyone wants to go somewhere or what ever. There are no means. So PLEASE keep it in prayer. I thank you in advance.

It Is So Good To Have Help

The couple you see above here are Faye and Bob Browning. They have been doing all kinds of differ jobs here at the ALC. They are a couple that loves to go places that are in need and they are willing to get the job done. Their home is in Canada (London) during the summer months. The other times they are missionaries and are willing to do what ever is needed. Bob retired from Lift Truck Business. While he was working there the Lord had shown him how and what is needed to fix trucks and other machinery. Bob just did what ever was needed and he did a great job. Just one thing comes to mind is the back hoe. He welded up all of the holes and tighten all of the oil lines that were leaking. It was such joy to be able to work along side of him and to even learn more about how to fix things. It was such a blessing to have them both here. Faye recover the Camp mattress by sowing new material and pulling the foam out and pushing it back in the new material. Looks great and I know the groups that come in will really enjoy the comfort and knowing there are no holes in their bed. They were here for two months and they stayed in cabin # 3. If anyone out there has been here before they know what I am saying about that cabin. It has a tin roof and the windows don’t open all the way plus there is a cement floor in there too. They told me that if we ripped down that cabin they will not have a home the next time they come. The reason I bring this up is, I have heard that the new bath house is going to be built there. I myself feel, if we have a build already don’t rip it down use it for storage or even maintence items. It is hard to find places that are secure and water proof around here. If you would please keep us in prayer for more people like Faye and Bob to come and help us out.

I have to tell the world this

I have to tell you all that I am sorry for the way I have been talking with you. Since I have become a Christian, the way I speak is not for all of you. The only reason I am saying this is, I love you all and I just love to share my heart with you. Last week we had a Pastor Kelly Lyons here to do a couple of teachings. The one I went to was Thursday night. He was talking about how as Christians talk to each other. Just like the words born again, saved fellowship and blessings. Now the family and friends that I have been trying to reach by this means just look at the blog and start reading. About the second sentence they are turning to something else. So, I am trying to say I am sorry for the way I speak now. But this is my life now. Being a Born again Christian means I need to share my heart and this comes out this way. I am not trying to push Christ down anyone’s throat. I am trying to show the world the truth and what God has been doing in my life. So if you can’t understand my way, please e mail me and I will explain or even try to change my tone a little. All I know is I love Christ with all of my heart and I want you all to have that same love.

God's Wings

A little something to put things in perspective. An article in
National Geographic several years ago provided an interesting picture
of God's wings. After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park , forest
rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage.
One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched
Statuesque on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened
by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he
gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their
mother's wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster,
had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered
them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would
rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies.
When the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the
mother had remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to die, so
those under the cover of her wings would live.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find
refuge." (Psalm 91:4)
Being loved this much should make a difference in your life. Remember
The One who loves you, and then be different because of it. My
Instructions were to send this to people that I wanted God to bless and
I picked you. Please pass this on to people you want to be blessed .
Time waits for no one. Treasure every moment you have. You will
Treasure it even more when you can share it with someone special.

Taxes

A tax assessor came one day to a poor Christian to determine the amount of taxes he would have to pay. The following conversation took place. "What property do you possess?" asked the assessor. "I am a very wealthy man," replied the Christian. "List your possessions, please," the assessor instructed. The Christian said:
"First, I have everlasting life, John 3:16
Second, I have a mansion in heaven, John 14:2
Third, I have peace that passes all understanding, Philippians 4:7
Fourth, I have joy unspeakable, 1 Peter 1:8
Fifth, I have divine love which never fails, 1 Corinthians 13:8
Sixth, I have a faithful wife, Proverbs 31:10
Seventh, I have healthy, happy obedient children, Exodus 20:12
Eighth, I have true, loyal friends, Proverbs 18:24
Ninth, I have songs in the night, Psalms 42:8
Tenth, I have a crown of life, James 1:12"
The tax assessor closed his book, and said, "Truly you are a very rich man, but your property is not subject to taxation."
I pray that all of us will have this kind of tax free "wealth
I just want to tell you all out there, I thank you for things to put in the blog. Plus that I really am thankful to know this is my own life. Please reflex on these things and remember our home is not here. HEAVEN.

The Men's Bible Study

The picture that you see above is the men that come out on Saturday morning (6:30am). Our main focus on this is to raise leaders in our church. These guys have been doing this for many years. The men that you see are not all of them. It is a funny thing about that. Some mornings we have 6 to 9 and other days 10 to 13. Well enough about them. The study that we are working on is called, Cross Cultural Missions. We have been talking about missions now for about 6 weeks. The reason I am telling you about this one subject is to show why I am here in the Bahamas. To be able to live and share my life with another cultural. I know we don’t think the Bahamas is another one, but it is. The way of life around is a lot differ than back in Florida. Remember this nation is only 33 years old. Not like the States 231 years old. They have come a long way but there is so much more for them to do. I have talked about the roads and the signs before. I know it is a small part but if you are driving along and there is no signal light working, they don’t use the stop and go way. Their plains are to just drive threw. Like I told you before about there stop signs, there is a yield sign inside of the stop sign. So full stop does not happen. Like I said before this is only a small diffence. So during our study I get a chance to hear what the men think of the things around here and then I get to put my two cent in. So the study is very much part of my life here. So please if you believe God is calling you out to mission field, remember the place you live is just has important to share the Gospel as any other country. Please keep the Bahamas in prayer; this next month is the time they will be doing their politics. This is an election year and it will be happening May 2. So please pray for peaceful and ordering time.
Hey if you every have questions about why I am here or you just want to know more about this place, PLEASE e mail me at, toms@alcbahamas.org
Thank you for your prayers and listening.

Easter Monday, FUN DAY

What a beautiful day to enjoy the outdoors. The people came and we serve them. There were a lot of them. I don’t have the count, to tell you how many. But we all had things to do. My main job was making sure all the stations had their supplies and if they were running low I would need to run out and buy some more. It ran so well that I was not ask, not even once to run and get more. The only running I needed to do was back and forth to the Camp for more Hamburg’s and hot dogs. Tony was doing was precooking them so the time on the grill would only be minute or two. Boy did we go through them. There was 600 to start and used about 450 of them. Not sure on the dogs.
The kids were the ones that got the most out of this day. By looking at the picture above you can see we had an Easter egg hunt. Micheol sent them out and they just ran as hard has they could to find some eggs. Everyone got a couple or more. The train ride was so good. You start out with Ashley telling you that we are going in a time zone change. We are now in 33Ad. Then a gorilla comes out and scared the kids a little. Down the road we run into a man named Peter. He gets on the train and tells us all about this man Jesus and how Peter and his friends were willing to be part of Jesus’ life, three and half years. Then they took Him away and put Him on the cross and now He is in the tomb. While riding along a Roman Guard came running up asking if we know where Jesus’ body is. Have we stolen it? We just rode by and saw for our own eyes He was gone. That only can mean one thing!!!!!. He has risen from the . May we all rejoice in knowing that? That train ride was our time to share about His time on this earth and to tell ALL He has raisin and rejoice in knowing that. It was really done right and I think most of them enjoyed it. I know I did. Have a great day. Bye for now.

Hey, I am in the writing mode

Well folks I pray that your Easter was a beautiful time to reflex on what He has been doing in your life. This morning we at the ALC had a chance to have our own Sonrise Service. It was a great time of worship and hearing our Pastor Chet teach on the power of the Son. He was using the sun that we have each and every day of our lives. He talked about how we could set a clock to the time it raise and sets. Just like our Lord Jesus Christ. He is there right on time. We think it is not fast enough or He is not listening to us. But He is always. The time is running out BUT He will show up and you will see some amazing things happen. The area that we were in is 1 Corinthians 15:1- 8. This area is about how there was 513 people that saw Jesus after He rose from the dead. Then just think how if it was a lie, to keep all of them on the same page. Saying yes Jesus rose and yes to all the other things that He did. Then be willing to dead for a LIE. I don’t think I would even do something like that. So by reading and studding His Word you can see and understand way we do what we do. It is all about Him and what He did for us. Please reflex on your lives and see ALL that He has blessed you with. Just enjoy your time on this earth and look forward in what is a head. Please folks, I am asking you ALL to look at your lives and PRAISE Him for all. Then look at how many times He has gotten you out of trouble or a thing you thought was the end. He does LIVE and He is right next you now. Thank Him for all and enjoy this day.

A Day On The High Seas

This last Saturday afternoon we, at the ALC had a chance to take a boat ride and just chill. Man we all needed and it was worth the time. We got at Harbor Dock and broad a ship called Bahamas’ Star. The Captain is named Bruce; he has been a captain now for 32 years. His crew’s names are Billy which is in this picture above, with Captain Bruce too. There is another crew member named Nick. Well we started out around 10:30am leaving the harbor by motor. Got out about ¼ mile and shut the engine down and put up the large sail. Man that was so neat to see and just riding on the wind was great. The peace and quite was something we all needed and really did enjoy. We got out about 6 miles and threw out the anchor and ate some lunch. Then some of us got brave and went into the chilly ocean. I was only in there for about 10 minutes. The rest of the staff went in and out all afternoon. Jumping and snorking. The water was clear and you could see how beautiful our Lord made the coral reefs. A couple of the staff went down and brought up some star fish. The rest of us just laid around on the top side and just enjoyed our time relaxing. Man I sure got burnt and a couple of the other did too. I know better, to use sun screen and get out from under the sun when you can. I just had such a good time of talking with him (Bruce) and his crew to hear all the wonderful things He (Christ) has been doing in this ministry. This is the web page that they gave me, so you can check it out yourself and see. www.7cscharters.com
I am so happy to be part of this ALC and staff seeing so many things that do happen around this island everyday. Please reflex on what He (Christ) did for you this Easter Sunday (2007 years ago) and just enjoy some quite time.

Fixing the place up

These last couple of weeks we have had a chance to clean and just make this place look even better than before. By looking at the picture above, you can see a face lift that Tony is doing. It is not a face lift but a fresh coat of paint. Boy it really does look so much better. There are projects all over this campus, the boat that we received last year. It got a coat of paint too. Almost everything around here got some kind of work done to it. It is so good to have so many hands here to get these things done. Patmos has been such a blessing. Just think if any other place could get 20 students to work, clean and do what ever is needed. That to us is just so neat to see. Our Lord has been so good to us here. If you could just image all that needs to get done around here. I just want to say it is ALL His doing. Please keep the students in prayer. They have 6 more weeks to go. Then they are to go back to their homes or where ever God sends them. We are really praying for some to come back to help us out here. Only He knows who they are. May our Lord bless this Passion Week. HAPPY EASTER
