This is the Camp after wards, no problems

These are during the storm

This before taking the people from All Saints Camp.

I want to tell you all, I am sorry for not putting more pictures up

It really has been a pain trying to get caught up on e mails and then working all day cleaning.I think I have gotten caught up on e mails. I do see a lot of Face Book tings. At this time I juist don't have time. But here above you will see before and after pictures. They might not be in order. But I hope this gives you a idea on what happen here and how blessed we are to only have this done. I have been hearing stories about the other islands. They really did get a hit. I really have no excuse for not looking on my computer to see all that has happen. But down the road I will take the time and see.
Plus I did hear that 9 people lost their lives in the states, because of Irene. I really hope she is gone by now and we all can try to get our tings in order.
I have not heard any6 thing about Pastor Chet's dad's funeral. But I know they all can use a prayer or two. Please, Chet's mom has lost a son earlier this year, then two weeks lost her brother, now she has lost her husband. Keep them in prayer, PLEASE.

Yes the clean up is on it way

Hello again all,

I have three trees waiting for me this morning to cut all the way down. Plus I hope to get down the some shutters today too.
Kevin and all of us are doing well and Kevin made up a video and I hope tonight to be able to put it on the blog. There are pictures of before and after.
Oh if you see I have fffffff's again. I am using the small computer now. The big one is still not letting me us the F key.
I saw a lot of friends yesterday at church so I really think all is well.
I did hear about people losing their lives with Irene, in the states. I am so sorry to hear that. Please keep their families in prayer.

I have a praise report, then a prayer REQUEST

Yes our Lord is trying to show me things. Last week I was trying every thing in my power to get a air line ticket to Cat Island for this week we are in all ready. I checked on line about a hotel too. Both places didn't take American Express. Now it was not that easy to find all this out. It took me calling the hotel adleast ten times. No answer. Then I asked about the prices. They have gone up almost $20,00 since the web page said. Then I talked with the owner, she told me that they don't take A/E. Okay I will bring cash, but oh that right the prices are much more than I wanted to spend. Maybe I can make it happen? I went on line for my air line ticket, they don't take A/E. I e mailed them and they told me they would take cash too.
I look back now and see this was our Lord telling me not to go. Oh now I see, there is hurricane coming our way,Irene. Now if I was there, I would be worried about this place. So now I understand His way so much better.
So yesterday we started getting ready here. You know picking up tings and making sure we are ready for Irene. Today Tim, Mark, Sean, Kevin and myself will put up the boards around both the Camp and ALC. Plus we have made plans for the animals too. Where they will ride out the storm.
Now my prayer request is? Protection of all of our building, animals and every one on this island. This storm is coming straight towards us and she is suppose to be packing 130 miles winds. A Cat #3 we have been told.
We just need to use our brains and make sure we are ready. Then ride it out and see what has happen.

Things that ahave been going on.

Tuesday was a bitter sweet ting. What I am talking about the group that was here this last week. They really work well together. Some groups come in and there seems to be a problem here or there. But this team was pretty much, what needs to happen? Let us do it right and right now. Pastor Arie, he was the one over seeing this group. A real nice guy and he had a gentle spirit about him. I never saw him get up set or even say anything with a loud voice. Plus there was one guy, named Gary,(fireman) He was willing to do what ever was need at the time. I even pulled him to the side a couple of times. Saying you need to have these kids do the work. He told me that they had a rough day and he just likes to bless them. The pictures below, Kevin and his two good friends, sorry not sure of names. Kevin really had a good time. He went with them each day and helped out with VBS and then went to the guys home. I was told Kevin was very much a big part of their team. He help with puppets and even had a chance to share his story with them. I am so blessed to be able to see God's hand on this kid's life. I know Tuesday was a sad day for him. He had to say good bye to some good guys and I know he will miss them very much. He was telling me that, that night he talked with most of them by Face Book. So now Kevin has more people to e mail and Face book.
Okay about the gas stations. Tuesday night on the ZNS TV news here. They were saying the owners of all the gas station, Texaco,Esso and Shell. Were having a meeting to make a discussion on when to strike? The reason is, The government here over sees the prices of gas and diesel. That means, the owners really have to do as they are told. So they need to raise their prices, so they can make a more profit. Since 2002, they have been making only $.44 pre gallon. That has not chance since then (2002) So they want a raise. The cost of pretty much every thing has gone up. But not their pay. I understand why now.
I use to manage a gas station, Mobile. Back then our prices were up to what ever we wanted them to be. I remember in 1972 there was a shortage of gas. So our prices were higher than the rest. $.49 a gallon. We were next to the Turn Pike in New York. So we had the people coming and going. Really not that many station back then. We closed the station after we were told we could only sell 20,000 gallons a month. We use to sell twice or three times as much as that. It really was not worth staying open.

Gas stations are going on strike.

It is sad to see them leave.

I have had a group here since Tusday,

These students and leaders are from Baltimore MD. The church they are from is called Kingdom Life. Their main reason for coming was to help out another Kingdom Life church here. Each morning they have been going over to the church and doing VBS. That stands for Vacation Bible School. They stay there until 1pm and then going over to the Girl's and Boy's Homes. Then there has been another four guys working on replacing a roof at one of the people's home that goes to Kingdom Life Church.
Yesterday I had a chance to spend time at the boy's home with them. Pastor Arie asked me to stay and if I wanted to share about what I have been through before I become a Christian. I shared for about 10 minutes and then Pastor did his ting. Then they all broke up in small groups and talked about what we shared. Then while in the groups, they were asked a question. If you only had tomorrow left to live, what would you do? I really think that is a great question, The reason is our murder rate is at 89 up today. It looks like we will go beyond last years 96. It is only Aug. So you never know how much time you have on this earth? So I you knew today was my last day here. What would you do? I would be trying to find family and friends that don't know Christ, then share with them about Him. The reason is when I am in Heaven, I want my family and friends to be there too.
The pictures below shows a couple of guys. first one is Gerry, he has been here now almost two weeks. He has been friends with Eddy since back in Jerrsy. He came down here to get away a little. Plus Eddy has really enjoy this company. They both have been doing the cooking and trying to keep these kids bellies full each day. They really have done a great job. Eddy is here until Sept? Not sure when but he has been such a blessing to me and this group. If Eddy and Gerry where not here, this group would have to make their own meals. That is really not a bad thing, but it takes away from the ministry they came down here to do.
Kevin has been in heaven with this group. The reason they are his age and he loves to spend time with them. pretty much every day Kevin has been part of their group. He helps out with VBS, then spends time at the homes with them. Then at night he has been taking them down to the beach and just loving the friendship and knowing he is hearing the Word of the Lord each day too. I am so blessed to have him here, we have been trying read a Proverb each day together, then talk about it. Kevin has a been a big help too. He takes care of the drinks and helps out doing some of the dishes and just being here. Today he will be feeding the animals at the Centre. Then going to church with them. After that we will be having a picnic here at the Camp. The Kingdom Life Church will be coming back here to have some good food and fellowship.
I thank each and every one of you out there that have been praying for Kevin and myself. Prayers are being answered each day.
I will be going to his school plus the one I want him to go to tomorrow. Trying to get him straight for this next school year. I will try to keep each of you imformed.

This two guys have been doing all the cooking,

Dengue Fever ,here in the Bahamas.

U.S. citizens should be aware of the recent dengue fever outbreak in The Bahamas. In the past few weeks, over 200 cases have been reported and almost 1,000 cases have been reported of individuals suffering from symptoms that match dengue.

The Ministry of Health has begun spraying local communities, especially the more densely populated areas, and they have stressed to the public the importance of prevention.

The local government continues to combat this outbreak through greater public awareness of dengue and the importance of mosquito control.

What is Dengue Fever?

Dengue fever is an infectious disease carried by mosquitoes and caused by any of four related dengue viruses. This disease used to be called "break-bone" fever because it sometimes causes severe joint and muscle pain that feels like bones are breaking. Health experts have known about dengue fever for more than 200 years.

Dengue fever is found mostly during and shortly after the rainy season in tropical and subtropical areas of the Caribbean and Central and South America, Africa, Southeast Asia and China, India, the Middle East, Australia and the South and Central Pacific. Worldwide, 50 to 100 million cases of dengue infection occur each year. This includes 100 to 200 cases in the United States, mostly in people who have recently traveled abroad. Many more cases likely go unreported because some health care providers do not recognize the disease.

Cause

Dengue fever can be caused by any one of four types of dengue virus: DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4. You can be infected by at least two if not all four types at different times during your lifetime, but only once by the same type.

Transmission

Dengue virus can be transmitted from the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. Mosquitoes become infected when they bite infected humans, and can later transmit the infection to other people. Two main species of mosquito, Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, have been responsible for all cases of dengue transmitted in Mexico. Dengue cannot be transmitted from person to person without a mosquito as the intermediate vector.

Symptoms

Symptoms of typical uncomplicated (classic) dengue usually start with fever within 4 to 7 days after you have been bitten by an infected mosquito. These symptoms include: high fever, up to 105ºF, severe headache, retro-orbital (behind the eye) pain, severe joint and muscle pain, nausea and vomiting, and rash. The rash may appear over most of the body 3 to 4 days after the fever begins, and then subsides after 1 to 2 days. There may be a second rash a few days later.

Symptoms of dengue hemorrhagic fever include all of the symptoms of classic dengue plus bleeding from the nose, gums, or under the skin, causing purplish bruises, which results from damage to blood vessels. This form of dengue disease can cause death.

How is Dengue Diagnosed and Treated?

Dengue can be diagnosed by doing two blood tests, 2 to 3 weeks apart. The tests can show whether a sample of your blood contains antibodies to the virus. However, in epidemics, a health care provider often diagnoses dengue “presumptively” by typical signs and symptoms without waiting for lab results.

Treatment

There is no specific treatment for classic dengue fever, and most people recover within 2 weeks. To help with recovery, health care experts recommend:

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control advises people with dengue fever not to take aspirin. For severe dengue symptoms, including shock and coma, early and aggressive emergency treatment with fluid and electrolyte replacement can be lifesaving.

Complications

Most people who develop dengue fever recover completely within 2 weeks. Some, especially adults, may be tired and/or depressed for several weeks to months after being infected with the virus.

The more clinically severe dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndromes can result in vascular (blood vessel) and liver damage, and can be life-threatening.

How Can I Prevent Dengue?

The best way to prevent dengue virus infection is to take special precautions to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes. Several dengue vaccines are being developed, but none is likely to be licensed by the Food and Drug Administration in the next few years.

When outdoors in an area where dengue fever has been found, use a mosquito repellent containing DEET, Picaridin, and oil of lemon eucalyptus are less effective than DEET so are not recommended as a substitute unless there is an allergy or a contraindication to DEET or it is unavailable. Dress in protective clothing-long-sleeved shirts, long pants, socks, and shoes. Because Aedes mosquitoes usually bite during the day, be sure to use precautions especially during early morning hours before daybreak and in the late afternoon before dark.

Other precautions include:
o Keep surrounding areas free from free standing water.
o Wear long sleeves and light colored clothes.
o Use insect repellent when outside.
o Unscreened windows should be kept closed to prevent the mosquitoes from entering.
o Carefully inspect your environment to detect and eliminate all areas with standing water where mosquitoes can breed, such as flower pots, containers, birdbaths, discarded tires, etc.

My Lord has answered prayers, plus.

Yesterday morning Kevin and I had a meeting with a social worker here in the Bahamas. We were to meet at 10 am. But Kim, Kevin's mom didn't show up until 11:20am. You know the Bahamian time ting? At the meeting was Kim and her boyfriend and Miss Pinder and Miss Dean. These are the two social workers that is over seeing what we want to happen. During our time,Kim shared what she has been through and how she felt about me. It really turn out to be a great meeting. At the end of our time. Kim has given me the right to take care of Kevin. I have written to a couple of people about what happen. Rose made a comment that it looks like I am a dad, some what. I guess if you look at all that is going to happen, that might some it up.
On Monday we are going down to the school where he went during last term. This way I can find out if I can transfer him to the high school around the corner? Plus find out all we need to make sure he is set. You know uniforms and school supplies.
The school supplies we have gotten most of them from a guy named Eddy. He has been going around the island trying to get supplies for our office and any thing else we might need. So I thank him for all he has been doing to get us some free stuff, here at the Camp and the Adventure Learning Centre. Eddy is the kind of guy that will ask for pretty much any thing he thinks we need. Plus starting this Tuesday ahead. He will be doing the cooking and making sure our guess are feed well.
Okay now my prayer request is help me Lord to know and have His peace on what we needs and all that will have to happen before the school years starts.

Prayer request.

Today at 10:00am. Kevin and I have appointment with the Social worker here about Kevin future. His mom Kim will be there too. I have had a chance to spend over 6 weeks with his kid. Plus I have known him for over 5 years. Kevin is 16 years of age. I will not go into all that has been going on with his life, But I will tell you I just want the best for him.
I have been asking the Lord on how and what do to make his life better. While these 6 weeks have gone by, I believe they have been great for him and myself too. Kevin has been helping us out at ALC Summer Camp and then these last two weeks he had a chance to go to Camp Bahamas, in a Eleuthera. During that time, he was around kids and leaders that fed into his life about Christ.
I have had a chance to have him next story to me, since he came back. He really is a good kid. It is so neat to see how our Lord works things in His time.
Please my prayer request is I just want what is best for Kevin and myself.
I will let you know what happens.

Kevin as a gift and he loves to share it with others.
