Good day all,

Just want to say hello and let you know, how great it is to be able to get on the inter net with out some troubles. I am up in the Barn now. It seems to be okay here. Like I tried to write a couple of night ago, at the Camp, it just kept going in and out. So I had to save everything on Word and then copy it over to Blogger. But we are still having troubles with it at the Centre. That one is down for now. I am looking forward in seeing Dustin. You know what I mean, It is good for him to come back and see him. But, he is the one that might be able to repair our problems, (inter net)
I am asking for some prayer requests. Pastor Lee has been having some problems with his back, plus we have been waiting on this named Debbie to get back here and help us out. I wrote about her last month. She is in Fort Lauderdale, Fl and she is trying to get her van shipped over here so she will have some way around the island. One more prayer request, Eddy and Pastor Chet are still over in Libra and they are waiting on a new passport for Eddy. During his time there someone stole his back pack and that and his work permit was in it. So please pray that these guys get back soon and save.

Bust week-end.

Yes Friday after work we all got together and bought some crabs. I was the one to go find them. I have seen them for 3 for $10.00. but I wanted the biggest ones I could find. Which i did. 3 for $12.00. The woman had with her 4 little ones. She really could use the money. I was so happy, Big ones. Got back to the Centre and Luz and I got them ready and did the cooking too. We broke open the heads and saw brown stuff flow out. Boy it sure didn't look to good. Laura told us that the Bahamians take a piece of bread and soak up the brains and eggs. Gio was brave and he tried it. He got some bread and took a bite. He almost throw up. That was not his cup of tea. We ate the legs and that was pretty much all there was to eat. So remember big is not always better. Luz was a smart , she cooked up some chicken too. That was really good stuff.
That night we had a Men's dinner too. I got there and just had some good fellowship. Not meeting until after Sept. Left there around 10 pm.
Saturday morning, got up around 5:30am. Got to the church at 6:15am. We had our last meeting of the summer. Pastor Lee had both the women and men come together to have some good food and a small Bible study. he talked on Acts 12. Where Peter is put in jail and his friends and family were praying for him. He was relased by God and came to the house where they were meeting and they didn't believe it was him. When you get a chance read Act 12 and you can understand how sometimes we pray but don't believe He will answer our prayers.
That night was Movie night for the Single's too. This is out last time until Sept too. We watched a great movie Called Fireproof. It is about t married couple that needed Jesus and He did save their marrage. Please if you get a chance watah it and see how God is all we need. It is a tear jecker.
The reason why all these are done together is. Inter net problems. While doing the pictures I lost it three times. that is why the notes are not correct. No spell check.
Hey I would love to hear from you all. Please e mail me at
toms@alcbahamas.org

This is Saturday night, Single's

This is Saturday morning, Prayer breakfast

This is still Friday night, after Crab Feast, These are the guys from Calvary Bible.

Just want to tell you about how God has been working in my life.

When I got back here. I was told that our Hyundai was broke. So I went over to check it out. It was at Pastor Chet's house. Got there and found out the battery was . I mean . I pulled it out and took it back the place I just bought it at.(May) They put a charge on it and I went back the next day to see if it took or not. It was fulling charged again. Put it in the truck and it stared right up. Got about half way back to the Centre. It was over heating. I forgot to check the coolant. Got some water and it was just running out the bottom. I drove it back, watching the gauges. Got back and took the the bottom plate off to see what was the problem. The drain plug was leaking. So I thought it would be a easy fix. To make the story shorter. I worked on it since last Wednesday. Yesterday I believe it is fixed. After pulling it out three times and taking it here and there. Yesterday I took it out and went down to Napa and bought some plastic weld. Pulled the plug out and filled the hole with this weld. Put the plug back in and I believe it is fixed. Folks I just have to give the glory to our Lord, reason is after I took it out the first time. I said to myself if this doesn't fix it I am taking it to the dump. Well by His grace and willingness to use me over and over again. I am still sane. I wanted so badly to give up.

This has been my problem since last Wednesday

Enjoy and if this is you.

There are times when you may feel like being alone is the best thing for you, when you do, think about this email.Amazing things happen when we are silent.
Have a blessed Day,
A member of a certain church, who previously had been attending services regularly, stopped going. After a few weeks, the preacher decided to visit
him.

It was a chilly evening. The preacher found the man at home alone, sitting
before a blazing fire. Guessing the reason for his preachers visit, the
man welcomed him, led him to a comfortable chair near the fireplace and
waited.

The preacher made himself at home but said nothing. In the grave silence,
he contemplated the dance of the flames around the burning logs. After
some minutes, the preacher took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a
brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone
then he sat back in his chair, still silent.

The host watched all this in quiet contemplation. As the one lone ember's
flame flickered and diminished, there was a momentary glow and then its
fire was no more. Soon it was cold and .

Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The preacher
glanced at his watch and realized it was time to leave. He slowly stood
up, picked up the cold, ember and placed it back in the middle of the
fire. Immediately it began to glow, once more with the light and warmth of
the burning coals around it.

As the preacher reached the door to leave, his host said with a tear
running down his cheek, 'Thank you so much for your visit and especially
for the fiery sermon. I shall be back in church next Sunday.'

We live in a world today, which tries to say too much with too little.
Consequently, few listen. Sometimes the best sermons are the ones left
unspoken.

No they have not won. I just got smarter.

The story is below.

Just stopping by to say hello.

Yes folks I am back and the sad part is, while gone I had some people break in my truck and take pretty much every thing they could walk away with. See a while back I broke my rear window and I put a piece of plastic in. The reason was, price. to replace my back window cost $450.00. So Mark (staff) told me that we had some plastic in the back of the store room. So I put that in and ever since then. I have had (think) kids getting through the back window and just taking my change and some small tools. So I started parking it over on our campus here ALC. They still broke in one time and took change. So while going back to Ft Laud. I could not worry about my truck. I left it there. When I first got back I came over and looked. The doors were unlocked. I looked inside and pretty much saw that they took almost every else that I had. They even took my paperwork that was in the glove box. I guess they have a Madza truck and need the manual. Then I looked up and saw no little light going on. Open the hood and saw that they needed a battery too. I really not sure why they took the battery. Just before I was leaving for Florida. The battery was giving me some trouble. So I thinking when I get back to replace it any way.
God is soooooo good to me. While over there I did buy a manual for my repairs on the truck. Plus while in Harbor Freight I was looking at lug wrenches. Not sure why. I was thinking that we could use that for any tyre changes. But I didn't buy that. I did buy a bag for more tools to carry around with too. So yesterday I went shopping to replace the things I use each day here at the ALC.
So now I use the new bag and all the new tools I bought yesterday. This time I let ALC buy them. If I ever leave I will be leaving my truck here any way. I need to take this out each time I leave my truck over night. Really not that big of a deal. Plus I bought a new battery too. ($115.00) Now that has a chain around it.
All this to say He is in control and He knows all that is going on here too.
Oh one more item. Some dogs got in and killed our baby goats and many other small animals. I will be going around the property today and looking for holes. Please if you think of us. Say a prayer for protection and the means to be a head of these folks that believe they have the right to steal form us.

Short story.

While waiting in line at Spirit Airlines. A couple was behind me and my Lord has given me boldness. So I had a great time to share on what happen during my time there. We were coming up to the counter, after 1hour in line. I wanted to give them a card. They both told me, that is okay they don't do the computer ting. So he handed me $25.00. God is soooooo to me.
Then while on the plane I was sitting with a young couple. They both only go to church on Christmas and Easter. Pretty much. I tried to explain all that has happen while there in Fort Lauderdale. Then I told them about how God is so good to us. We just are not always seeing or even listening to His voice. I told them about where to go while here and maybe they call me and we can get together.

I had chance to check out another church.

I saw this in my stuff. If you see below. He is good.

Good evening all.

I just have a small note to pass on to all of you out there. Today while driving back to my mom's home. I received a voice message. The caller told me that he had a chance to collect some funds for me. I called him back and we meet at the Burger King along Atlantic and 441. It sure was good seeing those two. I don't want to tell you who they were. The reason is God knows and I want them to receive His blessings. Not mans. Well we got caught up on what has been happening. Then he hands me the envelope and tells me that they have $701.00 dollars in there. I was floored and just wanting to say thank you soooooooooo MUCH MUCH MUCH. Guys and s I know this is from some of you out there. But the bottom line is He has given it to you and you have return given it to me. Thank you very much. You guys will have the blessing from Him down the road.
Where I am going with this is, last night I was telling my step mom about how God shows up on the 11:59. Just like He has done here. I will be going back to Nassau tomorrow morning. I can tell you that this trip has been paid for by Him and all of you that have given. I know there are other funds that you have dropped of in the tithe boxes too. I will not tell you the people that gave all ready. But my total is over $543.00 in cash. Plus a couple other checks too. So All I want to say is THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR GIFTS AND I KNOW HE WILL BE BLESSING YOU TOO.
If any one else wants to give and receive a tax break on it.
Please write the check out to Adventure Learning Centre. Then place the check into a Calvary envelope and write on it: For Tom Schafer. Don't write my name on the check. Just on the envelope. Please if any one has a question on this or anything else. Please e mail me at toms@alcbahamas.org

The pictures you see below

Yes yesterday was Saturday and that means today is my last full day here. Charlie Davis asked me if I would like to go to the Baptism for Calvary Chapel? I jump to the question. When I was here, before ALC. I was at every baptism that Calvary has had, after I was saved. It really is a Honor to be part of the leadership there at Calvary. My partner was Joe. We had the chance to baptize this couple. David and Sacha. When you hear their story you just have to reflex on all that He has been working on you too. This is a newly marred couple,6 months (I think) They shared about the things that God has taken them through and what they believe they are to do for Him too. There was 124 people that got Baptized. I thank my Lord for the time there and blessings to be part of this.
After that Charlie and I went out for breakfast. We meet his wife Julie and a friend Karen. So we sat there and just tried to get caught up on somethings and having fun too.
From there I did the last of my shopping. Came back home (mom's) and took a nap. Boy was that some good sleep.
Ate again and went to a Church up north. I had a chance to be with around 80 to 100 guys. We sang to about the same amount of women. This is called VDC. I will not try to spell it out. The time there was worth every minute. I just love seeing my old friends and just singing to our Lord Jesus Christ. Left there and came back and more sleep.
Folks if you don't know it. Today is my last full day in town here. I will be going to a new church, reason a lot of my old friends have been going there now. Relaxing and just spending a little more time with my mom and sister. Tomorrow I fly out and see all that is to do when I get back there, ALC. You know buses and vehicles and other items to fix. Please keep these next couple of days in prayer for me.

This was my Saturday

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Good day all,

Yes yesterday was Tuesday already. The time is flying by. Well I had a great day. I spent the whole day with my step mom. She had a doctor's appointment in the morning, then the rest of the day we just went shopping. We went to 7 different thrift stores. It really was a enjoyable time. I put her in her wheel chair and just walked along each row of items. She kept telling me to slow down. Now if you have read my blog before about my mom. You would understand, but if not. Well she is like a kid in a candy store. I want to look at every thing and believes she should have every thing too. It might sound like she buys a lot of tings. Sometime she does, But this day she did good. Now we did buy tings that she doesn't need, you know like a small strainer, large dish and MORE cook books. We did get some great deals on a couple of the items. I myself found a old New American Standard Bible, ($1.50), two pairs of shorts,($2.99 each) and a pair of Timberland tennis shoes,($19.99). So I really did good on my items. It really is neat to see how my Lord provides my needs. I have been looking at Bibles now for a couple of months. ($50.00 and up). The reason is my pastor back in Nassau, wanted me to use that type of Bible for studying. He told us in class that this is the close correct true Word of God. On the tennis shoes. I have been to about 5 stores looking. All going for $50.00 and up. He is so good to me. Well today I have some meeting and just time to relax too.

This is for the people that would like to donate.

Yes the week-end has ended and it sure was a good time to hand out my newsletters and cards. My prayer for this trip is to raise funds for the next year ahead. What I am trying to say is. If you belong to a Bible Study, (Small Groups) If you think about this. If you have 10 people in this group, every month you collect $10.00 dollars from the ten. That would add up to $100.00 a month that I could use over there to bring glory to Him. Folks remember I don't have a job, (4 years) I have gone though all of my savings. I believe I am to stay there at ALC. Until He has called me out of there. I over see the maintenance and any things that break. I, by His Grace fix tings. So at this time I have not seen ANY ONE else come over there to do that job. Please I ask for prayer, but prayer doesn't pay for my needs.
If you would like to donate some money to my ministry, Please write the check out to Adventure Learning Centre. Then put the check into a envelope at Calvary Chapel. THEN ON THE FRONT OF THE ENVELOPE WRITE: FOR TOM SCHAFER. This way you get a tax write off and I get some funds. I know God has some one out there that want to give. If you are not that person, I still ask you for your prayers. Because I know I am to be there.

Sunday, June 07, 2009

Now all that has happen is in the Lord's hands.

This last week-end I had chance to have a table in the east side of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, Fl. It really was a good time there. I made up 100 news letters and put them in envelopes with my new card and a Bahamian dollar bill too. The news letter is telling them what I do there at the ALC. Plus letting them know I understand how peoples lives have changed since this last year. My prayer request is, I prayed that I would give the right people the news letter and give it up to HIM. It sure was two long night and day to stand and talk with people about the ALC plus all we do there. I had a slide show going on in my lap top. So they ask questions and I tried to answer them too. It really was a nice time and now we need to see what He has in store for this next year.
Now the rest of my time here is, still a little more shopping. Then rest and spending some time with my mom. Tuesday is our day to go to the doctor and just spend the day together. I have a couple more people to see. Like tomorrow night I am going over a friends house for a nice dinner, (Rose). Then Wednesday morning I have some time with Lysa from the mission department. Lunch will be with Joe, he over sees the maintenance and pretty much anything that has to do with buildings and up keep.
I have plains for next week-end too. I will tell you about them later on.

Yes I had to do some work around my mom's home

So far so good.

Hey, He has really given me so time to rest. I am sooooooo happy about that. Well Wednesday night was good . I saw a lot of people at Calvary. Handed out many business cards. Great teaching on Prayer. Pastor Chet taught and he really as passion for His Word and His love. While he was up there I just saw so much peace in his face and knowing that God was using him for that moment. Pastor Chet has been talking about, his vision and how God has been trying to get him to do more prayer. I know for my own walk has been very sallow in prayer. It all comes down to what we do. Like a guy that wants to have big arms and JUST watches TV. Thinking that if he sit on his sofa and watches a work out. He will receive those big arms. It doesn't work that way. We all have to put our faith to work. Prayer should be our life. Just like when you want to have a relation with someone. You need to work to get to know them and they want to talk back to you too. Hey I know when I am working on something, I am always asking Him for wisdom and the know how. But when I am driving down the road. I just have the music on and look around at all that is going on. Meanwhile I need to pray that time too. Now if you are driving REMEMBER KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN. Hey don't close your eyes while driving. You might end up seeing Him face to face.

Thursday, June 04, 2009

Hey everyone, I am HERE.

Yes my trip here as been a pretty good so far. I got to the airport in Nassau, and there I ran into Pastor Chet's wife, Andria and the posy. You know the children. So waiting for our flight we had some time just playing with Timem. You know he really like trucks and cars. So we knelt next to a table and played for a while. Meanwhile I saw another friend there. Patrick and his family. I had a chance to get caught up with him a little too. Got on the plane and made it safely here. I was blessed by a ride with Andria and her family with a ride to Calvary Chapel. Got there and was handed a set of keys to a brand new Chevy. They rented me a car for use. I was so blown away. Juan was telling me that there was a lot of folks coming into town this week and they didn't have anything else to use. I thank them so much. To me that was beyond.
So now in town I went over to see Bill Romeo, He had a cell phone for my use while here. That is the number that is on my new card.
Got over to my mom's house. We talked and got somewhat caught up. Mean while I was told that the phones don't work. I called the phone company and they told me that the next day they would check it out.
Sat down and had pizza and just nice time to relax.
Wednesday, early rise and got my e mails caught up. Did a little shopping. Got back to mom's house, phone guy there. He shows me what could be the problem. He thought the wire under the house was broken. He GAVE me some new wire. I worked on that for about two to three hours. The really nice think is after that it WORKED. Now my mom is set. She has phone service again. My God is soooooo GOD to me. I felt like I was back in the Bahamas. Fixing things.
Today I plan on getting me packs ready for this week-end to hand out. Go out for for dinner and a movie too.
So now you have a up date on all that I have had the chance to do so far. Rest I have not seen as of that time. Maybe tomorrow????? Yeh you know that will not happen.

Sorry I didn't take that many pictures. To WET

Hey yesterday was our Water Maina.

Boy yesterday was a day of Fun, rain and water and more water. I am not sure how the weather has been for you guys? But these last two weeks have been rain, rain and more rain. But yesterday started out sun shine and blue skies. But around 3:30pm our afternoon showers came and gave us more rain. The really funny thing is. During the time it was raining people were still coming through the gate wanting to get even wetter. To me this was crazy. The reason I say that is every time it rains, try to get into the stores? Every women s getting their hair wet. So they will park on the side walk or as close to the door.
Hey it really was a good day. I was told we had around 600 people come still. That number is not the number we were looking for. If you read my blog on our last Fun day, (Easter) we had over 1500 people come through our gates. All that matters is that the ones that came had fun and they will be back.
Just a side note, I will be leaving for Fort Lauderdale, Fl this morning. If you think of me, please say a prayer for us here. During my time gone this place will pretty much be only 5 staff. Plus there really is no one to do repairs, while I am gone. I just pray that tings go well and when i get back there will not be that many trouble to come back to.

Jeanne saw this place and had to stop.
