Don's final day in Florida. This is Monday.

Okay what can we do today? Well thinking, Don needs to be in Orlando around 7pm. So I was thinking let us just start driving north and see what happens.
We stopped at this restaurant on the way. It is called Koutry Kitchen. We had breakfast and talked about the trip.

So we took A1A north/ US1. As driving along, Don was checking out different beaches. So we made like 6 stops on the way north. This is just one of them.
As I was driving I told Don about this neat place called Ron Jon Surf Shop. So as we are heading north. I saw a sign for Ron Jon parking. So we parked the truck and went into McDonald's and had a couple of hamburgs. While waiting in line. There a couple of the guys that work there having lunch. Noticed their name tags It showed where they were from. Like Tom and New York under the name.
I was kind of a neat thing, I thought.

It is some what hard to see his name tag. But it tells me his name is Jeremy and he is from the Brooklyns, NY.

As sitting there I am looking on and saying WOW, the last time I was up this way. This place was just a small shop. Plus as looking around there are many surf shops along US 1. So why is this place doing all the bussiness? I really thinking of the FREE stickers you get after buying something.

This is FREE advertising. Just think. They give you four. So maybe your buddy sees the sticker on the back of the truck. Hey where did you get that at? That is neat looking. I have seen this sticker everywhere around.

This place is huge. The real neat thing is, their prices are not bad at all. Don bought a nice hat there, It had Ron Jon Surf Shop on the front of it, Plus 1959 in small print on the side. It only cost him $15.99. It looked well made too.

Now this is going to the far end. But I guess if you have the money there is always someone out there that is willing to spend it.
After this we drove farther north to Dayton Beach. Raining all the way there. Talk about that trip tomorrow.
May the Lord bless your day and just enjoy the life you have.

What happen on Sunday?

I was talking with Don and I really thought going to Archie's for church would be a neat experience, he might really like.
I have talked about Archie's before with him. He told me that would be okay. We even talked about having breakfast there. But after getting there I really was not that hungry. They have coffee and donuts for free, thinking I would be happy with a couple of donuts and coffee.
So after the service, we started out driving along the Indian River Road, south. We talked about going out for breakfast at Mickey's restaurant. Which is south of us. While driving along, I was showing him different homes and just enjoying the view. But I drove right pass the road I wanted, Midway. So we drove a little longer than planned. But we got there and had a nice meal. After wards our plan was to be at the Navy Seal's Museum at 12:00 noon. The reason it is only open from noon to 4pm on Sundays.
Okay got there about ten minutes later than planned. But it was worth the trip.

Okay why are we at the Navy Seal's Museum? Well the night before Don and I went out for dinner and meet this guy here, His name is Will and he volunteers here each Sunday. He is the one that told us that the hours are different during Sunday. Plus it is worth the $10.00.
We got there and Will showed us around and explained how and why this place is here. Plus he was stopping by every once and while to make sure we are understanding the different displays and just the history of the place.

I was here on Memorial Day. I wrote about being here then. So I had a idea about the different things to see. But as out rime was winding down. Don did see the inside, but no that grounds. Maybe next time he comes down to visit we can do that?
Okay after seeing a video about why and what the Seals do. The time was up. So as we were walking out. This monument for the Silver Star. Which seeing this is what this place is all about.Saving others lives for our country.

Okay as our day was winding down, we rode over to the guest pool and just hung out for a little. That evening we went out for dinner at Chubby's Restaurant. It is only 1 mile away from my home.
Had a great sandwich and came home and planned on our next day, what to do.

Well we got back home, just had some relaxing time. The weather was on and off.

Okay we are in Jensen Beach area now. hey the weather really has not been that great, so when we saw the sun. Lets go for a ride.
You can tell that the Snowbird Season is over. It really is very peaceful.
Came back home and went swimming and even had time to shoot some pool too.

This is the guess club house. The reason we are over here is, As we were in the big pool a young lady came up and asked for our badges.

Well we tried to use the big pool and I showed her my badge, but Don doesn't have one and we had to go to the GUEST Club House and Pool. It all worked out okay. But you would think, as the Snowbirds have left for the season, why not let our guest use to big people's things?
Oh well, so we shot pool for about 10 games and I lost 6 of them. So he beat me on my own tables?
Hey I still had some fun making a couple of nice shots. It was nice remember how we use to go out and shoot pool and just hang out.

Okay it is dinner time. If you have been checking out my blog since Don has been here, you would see, we ate a lot of Mexican food. So here we are at another Mexican place. Now here, this place was very nice and just down the road.
We did stop at three places. the first one we ate there. Not to good, But he wanted to try another one. Then after this one, one more place.
At the end we were both pretty tried and ready for some sleep.
This is Saturday. So he time is winding down.

We are finishing up out trip on the west side.

I have seen the ads and thinking why would anyone want their name on a Coke bottle? So I wanted a Coke and I saw this and said, oh well.

As we were driving around going to the most southern part of Sanibel Island, I saw these signs. I have not seen a tortoise up to this point. But it was a neat sign.

As walking down to the beach you can see the different rules there are. But if there was no rules this place would not be as beautiful as it was.

As we were walking back to the truck, There was a young lady sitting there, asking if we would like a ride around that area?

Not sure why, but I didn't take a picture of the trolley we got onto. But she drove us around and we stopped and dropped us off, to see if there was any manatees (sea cows).

Hard to see but I think there was two or even three of them right in front of us. So we waited for Dawn to come back around and we climbed back in and she dropped us off where the truck was parked.
From there we piled in and started for home.
There was a many Love Bugs hitting the truck and windshield.
But we made it back and just enjoy hanging out and seeing the sites.

Still driving south, on the west coast.

Okay this is Thursday afternoon. We did some stopping here and there. Our plan was to get some good Mexican food. Well as Don looks at this app, called Yelp. It told him about this 3 or maybe 4 star restaurant in Fort Meyers. So we stop and walked in the there, and there was no one else in the place. (It was dinner time)Well lets try any way. Now I didn't take a picture of the place I am talking about now. But we asked for a couple of waters. The guy comes out with bottled water. Okay I guess? Oh I forgot to tell you we did stop and buy a case of water at Walmart.($3.18 a case of 24) Okay now talking with the guy, asked about this and that food things. Don loves to talk Spanish and he had a chance here. So we order our food. Maybe 6 to 8 minutes later the guy, really a kid. Comes out and said sorry they don't have what we ordered. So I asked for something else. No sorry don't have. Okay I guess we need to move on to another place? So the kid gives us a bill for $3.18 for two waters. WHAT? We pay and walk out and just shook our heads and say. They didn't have this or that and then still charge us for two waters?
Okay Don goes on Yelp and finds another about ten minutes away.
This is the place, above. Walk in and need to order at the counter. Didn't see any tacos on the menu. So we ask and the girls tells us there is a sign outside about tacos.
Okay enough, we order and brought our own waters in with us. We ate and it was nothing to write about. It was okay.

There was no price for the tacos on the menu or sign We got a taco salad.
Left and found a hotel. On another app. Got there and found out afterwards, no POOL. That was after we got our bags and went up to the room and I used the bathroom. Thinking maybe we need to find another hotel? Okay we are here and lets just stay.

We slept pretty good. The drapes were really dark and tight. No light came thru. Okay time to find a McDoulds. and get down to Sanibel Island.
Driving along and just enjoying the sites.

Don has a family member that stays at this one place, called Sanibel Arms, each year. So we stopped by the office and checked it out.

They give these ice scrapers away to any one that wants one. I really though that was a neat idea. Just thinking, I live in the north and I am cleaning the ice off of my car and seeing the name Sanibel Arms. WHY AM I LIVING IN THIS COLD WEATHER????
I really thought it was neat way to sell Sanibel Arms.

This is Sanibel Island beaches. The sand is still white but look at all the shells. I remember coming here many years ago. My dad use to have a time share. As you have this time share, you can stay at any other time share place, in exchange for the one you own.
So one year my dad thought, lets try the west coast. Which we did and it was okay, but as I woke up then. I walked on the beach and saw hundreds of Sand Dollars all over the beach. So as we walked alone the beach I kept thinking, maybe I will find one again? I talked with a guy that lives there. I asked about the Sand Dollars? He told me there are seasons for them to come to shore. Oh well. So we found a couple of chairs and a umbrella and stayed there for a while and even went swimming. The water was warm and just really comforting.
I got a little to much sun, but all went well. We hung out and rode around here and there and had some fun.
Our time was winding down. I will share about this fun ride we took, tomorrow.

On Saturday we flew back home. Sept. 5thn 2026

Okay I got up early and took a drive. I went to Dunkin Donuts for 6 donuts and a couple of coffees. Oh, I got a couple of items for Billy. B...
