Okay our plan it to replace this old gate.

If you have been watching this blog, Tim and I built a new gates a while back. Okay if you look this is still the old one. Now as the John Deere is back up and running, we hope next week to replace it. Now in the mean while, the pistons that control the opening and closing are worn out too.  As the time has been going by, I found out on Wednesday you can push the right hand side open so a body can fit through the space. So now I have asked our gate guys to come out and see if we can save the pistons? Mean while Eric loosen the right gates piston. So it is free to open or close by hand. That is why there is this large rock in front of it. That night Eric has to move this rock in front of the gate to keep it shut. Yesterday I cut a peice of board again. And drilled the holes in it and put it up. Now the right side is free to open or close. But the left side it to lock it closed when we have it shut. If you have seen this gate before. I use to have a another board up in the same spot. But as time has it way, The right side closes slower then the left. So the booard would end up on the out side, not like it is now. Hopefuuly today the gate guys will be out and prayerfully we can repair it and not replace he pistons. They cost us $3900.00 for the pair last time, I think?

A other wonderful day happen yesterday

Well our poor 1984 John Deere has been down now for over 5 months. The reason was the steering piston was leaking. So when we tried to drive it the oil was coming out pretty fast. So it has been sitting in her spot waiting on a couple of o rings kits. I order them a while back. I picked up one kit while over in Pompano Beach when I was over that way. Found out there was another a couple o rings needed to finish it's repair. So a couple of weeks ago, one of the CCA leaders brought it over with him when they flew here. I had it mailed to his home. So as Bob and I have been working our way through all the neat projects we have started. Now let us fit the our old lady, John Deere. We had some trouble getting the snap ring back in place. But over all Mr, no Dr. Bob took it all apart and rebuilt it. Then cleaned the piston itself out. All back together again. Oh while she was down one or two of our neighbors came over and stolen the battery out of her. So I have been saving a battery for her ever since we changed two of them out of the New School Bus. There were three batteries in that one. I bought only two and running well. Now the John Deere is up and running too. It is such a great feeling to finish up some thing and it works.

Scooby has his own bed now.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about how cold it has been here. (55) I even put a towel down for Scooby. I got a couple of remarks back, why doesn't he have a nice bed to lay on? I wrote back and told them I would go out and buy a queen size bed for him, NOT. I think he like the mat for now, but it has not been that cold. I know it is still Jan, so we will get some more cold weather.
Yesterday was one of those days I just didn't take any pictures. Hopefully today I will have some to take?

Hey look at what we got done yesterday

Well if you have been looking at the blog for a while now, Bob finished the welding on the Troy Built. It is back together, but now needs a new drive belt. The one that was on it, to tight. It will not stop driving.
Then look at some old shocks and new ones. Bob and I replace them on Tim's truck. All rides nice now.
Up in the Cottage B, Tim finish making the book shelves for there. Plus all mounted and ready to use. Maybe one day the girl will stain them?
Okay Bob now is back welding on  the supports for the new trolley we will be building in the near future. So over all we did get something done and even look pretty good too.

Better look out Bob, Tim is trying to take your job???? Tim and I both say why can we weld too? Well first of all we don't take the time to learn and just do it. So yesterday Bob was giving Tim some lessons on how to. He really did a pretty good job!

This is how we make signs around here, NOT

As the Adventure Learning Centre is known by how nice this place looks. You know when you walk into a room or some where, everything is so beautiful. Okay Sam and Michell are not looking for that look now. They are making up a sign that will be in the back woods. So they are trying to make it look really rough and worn. So Sam traced the letters with our Dremile. Which was a rounding sand paper. Then they beat the wood with chains and hammers and what ever else they could find to make it look the way they wanted it. Which looks great.

Okay we have run into a bumb in the road.

During yesterday after noon. We had two visitors stop by to hail us, plus. These two guys are from a company that is getting ready to start here in the Bahamas in the next couple of years or sooner. They have the rights to the WORD IMAX. That right a really Imax theater  is coming to the Bahamas. So while these two guys stopped by to say hello. There real reason was to tell Mr Mark to take the Imax off of our signs and anything else we use to promote our movie. So now we need to try to figure out what to do to cover the Imax up. Maybe spray paint it? Or tape over it. Today we will figure out what we should do.
Hey ad least someone saw our sign!
Remember a couple of days ago, Jen and I were handing our fliers. The sad part is we have only had 6 phone calls for this next Saturday. We were hoping for a lot more calls. The reason I say that is, we are asking them to call ahead for seating possible. Plus, we only have 40 seats to sit at one time.
Please say a pray for us on this, we really were hoping that this would help us with our funds.

I guees we will need to change these too?

Hey look at what I got done!

This is Faye, she always has a smile on her face. During the last couple of weeks, she has been cleaning and helping out where ever is needed. So yesterday she has been wanting to stain her screen door for a while. It happen yesterday. It really came out nice. Plus if you look on the floor there, this is a gallon of floor paint. She just enjoys fixing tings up. Just like her hubby. So I believe her next task will be painting the floor, light gray.
Just a note, after I have been here so long. People like Bob and Faye just give me a boost. They are willing to do what ever is needed and with a smile. So I guess by now you can understand why I have so many pictures of the people that are willing help us out. It is a blessing for me alone. May our Lord watch over them and keep them strong in every thing they do.

Cable Beach is still moving forward.

This area is now being called Baha Mar. This place is moving very fast. I tried to take pictures of this area, every time I am out this way. It really is neat to see this place coming together. Their goal is to be open in Dec of this year. There is still a lot to do, but they have come this far. Even driving around I can see the grass is growing on the golf course.
Hey this place is going to be so beautiful. Going to give Atlantis run for their money.

He has grown up.

If you don't know by now, this is Kevin. He has grown up so much. Well these last couple of weeks, he had a chance to go over to the states. He flew in at Baltimore, Maryland. He was picked up by a guy named Josh. Okay let me go back a little, first to let you know who Josh is. About fours years ago, this group came in from Baltimore. I am sorry but the only one I remember was Josh. Okay while they were staying with us. They did a VBS at a church called Kingdom Life. While here Kevin had a chance to spend most of his time with them. You know, going to Kingdom Life and helping out with what ever was needed. During that time Kevin and Josh became best friends. They have kept in contact ever since. So about a month again Kevin called me and asked if he could go to the states? I had no problem with it, but maybe the funds? So he got over there and had a ball. While there he had a chance to see some of Josh's friends, that were here before. Plus others. All Kevin has talked about how much fun he had and all the nice cars he saw while over there. He was telling me that Josh's mom invited him to come back during the Summer. She had a job for him. So while he was spending time with me this week-end, I was telling him how he needs to get a job and save his money up. He will need to get a visa before he goes the next time. This way he really could stay a little longer plus get a job too. I know he would love to do something like that. But now he has to save up his money and get tings in order to make is happen. He promise me this week he would redo his resamay and start hitting the streets to find a job. Plus he is staying with his mom now, he will have to give her some money to have a roof over his head plus food.
All I can say is he has a goal now and my prayers are for him to make it happen. He has a taste of the states now, maybe this will kick him the pants and he will be looking forward for his future. By what we talked about I really hope he will push forward.

That right Scooby's truck is back on the road.

As the day was going by. I took Kevin back to his mom's place, so he could get his jobs done. That way he could spend the night and go with me to Single's. Which it did happen. But while Kevin was cleaning and feeding the animals. Scooby and I went over to Jaws Beach. We got there and only saw a couple of people. The water is cold and there was a cool breeze too. But I ran into a couple of guys that are bird watchers. They have been at our place many times. (ALC) You know to go in back of our property and just walk around and take pictures an just look for different ones. Well yesterday they were out at Jaws Beach. Paul was showing me the different kinds of ducks and even some birds with his telescope. They really were pretty.
Okay Scooby and I went for a walk and got maybe 1/2 mile and we turned back. He was slowing down. I did want to kill him. Remember he is 91 years old now. That if you figure by dog years. 13 man years.
Then we stopped at the store for the pop for Single's, just looked up and saw so many planes in the air. I just love looking up and taking in all  that there is. I know sometimes we just keep our heads down and push forward. But as we are getting a little older each day, PLEASE take a minute and just look up and see the clouds and all that He has made for us to look at.

That right our Single;s group is back.

Last night we had a chance to come together again for a new year. Veda was not sure who was coming? The reason was she told me that no one called to let her know if even we were having singles last night? I guess we all  just think, yes. Even myself, I didn't call her until yesterday morning asking what would you like for me to bring? She asked for pop and ice. No problem. So Kevin and I got there a little earlier than normal. We meet at 6:30pm, we got there at 6:04pm. So we had a chance to get some what caught up a little. Then our people started coming in, one at a time. But at the end we had our normal bunch. It really was nice to see their smiling face again. These guys are real friends and family even. Sometime it is hard to get everyone out at night time. I know myself, just stay home and relax. But I am sure glad we all made a effort to make last night. We watched a movie on Nelson Mandela, Long Walk To Freedom. At first I thought why? But after watching it, it really started getting good. But during the movie, it seemed like every one had some thing to say DURING IT. But in the end we really did enjoy our time.
If you like to understand more about how the Blacks really tried to get the same freedom as the whites. You will really enjoy this one.
The really freedom we should be looking for is freedom in our Lord Jesus Christ, that is FREEDOM.
I was watching this movie, thinking how much Nelson was walking with Christ? But in this movie, there was no signs of that. But like Veda was saying last night, this movie was made by a man, maybe he doesn't have  Jesus as his Lord, in his life?

Okay enough about BOB

Last night Bob, Faye and myself had a chance to go to our favor take out. Bamboo Shack. Hey I really think this palce makes the best Jerk Chicken in Nassua. I am not speaking for them, but I think they do too. They get the breast snack. With NO HOT Sauce. It is so nice to just relax and enjoy a quit meal togehter. If you have been watching my blog at all, Bob has been the main guy in all most all of them, NOW I get to show off his little woman. This is Faye his better half. She has been trying to keep the sheet and every thing that can be washed, cleaned. She has a heart to serve and what ever it is she loves to do it. I have been very blessed to have her around while I was the Camp guy a couple of times. She keep the place clean and some what in odrer. She has a nake of folding and juist making the sheets look better.
We all here have been very blessed to have these two here and look forward in trying to make this place better. Faye when she speaks, she set her mind on it and shares her thoughts on pretty much anythink you want to talk about. That is a MOM'S HEART.
THANK YOU, YOU TWO

Doctor Bob found the problem.

That right that little plug that controls the crank shaft sensor was the trouble. I bought a new one and the engine kicked over and started right up.
Okay, I shut it off and tried again. No the starter stopped working. NOW WHAT. Guess what I did next, that right I took the starter back off and found out the small gear was not locked in any more. So we got back into the Ford Explorer and drove over to see my friend Patrick at Bay Street Garage one more time. I saw him talking with a couple of other guys down stairs. I asked if we could talk after he was done. No problem at all. On the way up to his office, he was telling us about Ford starters. There are three gears sizes for that one starter. So he took it apart again and put a finer gear on it. Then, they have this big machine that test pretty much any thing that is electric on a vehicle. He asked his partner to do a load test. I am thinking what is he talking about. Well Patrick held the starter down on this plate and turn the machine on. Which is cause the starter to spin. Mean while his partner held a long piece of wood and pushed it up against the gear and push hard, you could smell the wood burning and see smoke too. Patrick said that should do it. I was thinking and praying he was right. Just think for a minute, now we have tried 2 out of 3 gears. The odds are getting better.
Got back to the ALC and put it on and it seams to be just right now. I tried and start it three or four times. Plus drove it this morning around the island and shut it off again and again. Started right up.
I really not sure when this starter problem really started acting up. Thinking back in April of last year I needed to replace it. Which I did. After that I would hear something like two gears trying to mesh. But loud noises instead. Back then Dawins, told me the fly wheel was shot. So they replaced it. After getting it back. It still made that loud noise. I just left it a lone and said it will mesh after a while? So, if you have been reading my blog, this last week I have just wasted my time taking everything apart and putting it all back together again.
IT AS BEEN THE STARTER IN THE BEGINNING.
I have been using the wrong gear and that is why. Maybe I should blame the auto part store I bought the new one. So please if you ever change a starter, count the teeth on the gear first thing. Then make sure the teeth number matches the new starter.
I thank the Lord for just putting people like Doctor Bob and Patrick in my life to show me,
 I DON"T KNOW IT ALL.

No, this is not modern art. I guess it could BE?

This is our Troy Built lawn motor. If you go back you can see how rough it really was before. There was holes every where. Plus the plate was bent too. If you look at the two hole in the middle, that is where the bearings go for the blades. Before Bob started the plate it self was so bent up. Bob is not a artist, but a man that knows how to weld. It might not look that pretty, but it should do the job. Bob now has to fix the shafts that hold the blades in place. They were some what worn out too. I am sad to say I did replace them. Like every thing around here, we give it our best shot.  Hopefully by the end of the day this should be up and running?

Who many people does it take to break something more?

Well Michell came out yesterday and told us that the laminator was jammed up. You know, the plastic is stuck. So I looked at it and asked Bob what he thought? To cut to the chase, while working it, some one hit a transistor and broke it off. Garage now. It is funny to just see how we as a team can work together.
Thank you Lord for our missionaries that come to help us.

Up date on my little truck

It has been over a week now and we think we know the problem. Just to get you back up to speed. Last Thursday truck ran great and then it stalled out. Would not start again. I have taken the front end of the engine apart to check things out. We thought at first it was the starter. That LOOKED okay. Then Bob thought it was the crank shaft sensor. Replace it. Now it has to be the timing belt. HAS TO BE. There is nothing left. So took it all apart and found nothing wrong. Now what? Took starter off again and took it to Patrick at Bay Street Garage. He told me that is the problem. Okay he repaired it and I put it back in on Wednesday and it starter up,GREAT. Now yesterday I was putting the engine back together. All ready to start it up. NOTHING. It will turn over BUT not start. NOW WHAT? Bob and I put some starter fluid in the carb. It must be the spark. Maybe I pulled a wire off while putting it together? Bob said let us look at the cranking sensor. He was thinking I might have pulled the wires off of that. So the picture above shows the plug. Maybe it is fried? Today we will see what happen. I will go down to AID and buy another plug?
Oh Lord help us figure this out.

Okay it is REAL CHEESE or Cheese favored?

It tells me on the top, REAL cheese?

Jen is not playing in the middle of traffic.

Yesterday morning we had a chance to hand out these fliers above to the folks that get up early and drive to work or school. So as it goes, Jen and I were working together on this. What we do is, stand on the side of the road and just hand out these real nice card that Kim made up. Just tell the folks that we will be starting a IMAX show at the ALC in February. Needed to call in advance to make sure there is enough seats. The reason I say that is, our planetarium area only has 40 seats in it. For this kind of show. If you want to have a great sit. please call in advance and it will be there for you.
After that we had a chance to get a nice breakfast. It really was fun to see all the people out and just say Good Morning. At first Jen was walking all the way up Blue Hill and handing them out. I just stood on the bottom of the hill and handed them out. So she was do my job too. But after she ran out of flyer's she came back and we worked alone side. I really think she had some fun doing it. I know at first you might be a little nervous, but after a you do it a couple of times. Piece of cake.

Mr Eric is learning how to replace a rotor, plus.

We got these parts in a while back. Just have not had time to replace them. So yesterday Eric took on to himself to do the job. Which he did very well. But one sad part, all the parts went on okay but still have a problem with the pedal going to the floor. So Bob looked at it and said, the brake booster needs to be replace now. Hey maybe 8 months ago, we had other people look at it and said it needed a master cylinder. Rebuilt it, still troubles. Bought a new one. Still. Okay order other brake parts on line. Got the wrong ones. I went over to Ft Laud. Bought new brake calibers, rotor, pads. That is what Eric replaced yesterday. Now we need a brake booster. That will have to be ordered on line. Hopefully these number above match the ones on line. We will see what happens.
Hey we did tried to disconnect the vacuum hose that goes to the booster. That made it worst. Just have to drive slower and not to close to the car in front of you.

We had a chance yesterday to get some work done.

We had a couple of items on our list to get done. First the Ocean bus had a flat tyre. So Mark and I got that off and repaired it. There was a large screw buried in the tread. Got it out and then put grease around the bead and welah it blew up and now back in the bus. Oh one of the studs was stripped. So while Bob and I where out bought one plus nut. All is great for that project. Tim built us a new A frame sign. Plus even primed it. Then Bob is still welding his little heart away on the Troy Built lawn mower. There is so many holes and just trying to get it some what back in line. That is what the big problem is, it is just rusted so bad. I have tried to buy a new deck for it. But have been told no longer making that model. So Bob pretty much has to rebuild the whole ting. If you look back you can see more pictures on how far he has come. Plus Tim and I used a wire wheeel on cleaning up the L brackets for the new gate. That right we still have not finish that project. Hopefully by next week the John Deere will be up and we should be able to replace the gate. Ad least one side. The reason I say that is, we need to get the old one down and take the hinges off the top and bottom, clean them up and then put them back on the new gate. Had all kinds of problem trying to get new ones built, just thought let us use the old ones. They are not in bad share.

I had a opportunity to help out my cousin.

It has been a while since I have trimmed and cleaned out her gutters too.  Oh, the reason I am here now is because Jeanne and her sisters pl...
