As I have had the chance to hook up different kinds of projectors and other items that need electric ran to. We use a tape called gaffer tape. When there are people going to be walking or even getting close to the cords. Trying to prevent accident from happening tripping or get their feet wrapped up in the cord. So we use this tape. It really holds the cord down on any kind of flooring, Tile,carpet and pretty much any thing else. The sad part is afterwards, the tape getting wrapped around the cord and what a mess.
I have found out the best way it to cut the tape, being careful not to cut the plastic on the cord itself. Then using some kind of glue cutter. This Goo Gone, it is just like Goof Off. Just wipe it on and wipe it off. The cord is not sticky any more and even cleans your hands up too.
