Our leadership came up this idea of a memorial wall. While back in the old testament of the Bible, there are these things called memorials. Not sure but I believe there are more than twenty (20) times God told someone to build a memorial.
Okay in the Book of Joshua, Chapter 4 verses 1 to 9. It talks of the Israelites crossing the Jordan River. During this time, God stopped the water from flowing and they cross on dry land to get to the Promise Land. While the water was still not flowing, Joshua heard from the Lord:
Verse #2 Now choose twelve men and each tribe. Tell the men to take twelve stones from where the priest are standing in middle of the Jordan and pile them up at the place where you camp tonight.
Why build a memorial? Well this way, as the people walk by these memorials they have a chance to find out and maybe even learn more about that one place or even know more about why it was built.
It is a reminder to the generations to come about how God did His work.
These are the pallets of stones that will be used to build.
Now as our staff got together on Thursday to have a Fun day for all. We went into the sanctuary and was told what was next for us to do. We all got a stone and a sharpie. Now it is up to us to write something we can look back in this last few years and see how God has done work in our lives.
This is Scott putting his in the wall. As staff we had the chance to put our stones in the wall and say thank you Lord for all you have done for us.
In Israel there is Western Wall. .When I went to visit there in 2005. I had a chance to write on a couple of pieces of paper.and push them in between the cracks of the wall and ask God for favor. This is some the people that live there and visit are asked to do. So this is another reminder for me that God know my desires and what I have ask of Him.
This is my stone. I keep going back to 12 years ago, when I was back at work here. A good friend and one of our pastors here gave me these verses. They are the verses I have tried to live out in my walk and all I deal with each day.
They are the words that David gave his son Solomon just before he started building the Temple.
By strong and do the work He has started in you.
This is on the bottom of my stone that no one ever see. It is a praise to Him for my time in the Bahamas, 9 years.
This is Pastor George and his wife Carol. They just put their stone in the wall and this is to remind them where it is???
This is where I was told to put it and now you know. Plus maybe I will remember too.
This is the next day at work and they are sealing the stones with a water proof.
