I have a job. That right no more sitting around doing nothing. It was fun for a short season. But I started working at Win-Dixie last night. At first we, Sem and I had to sit in front of a computer and watch videos and take tests afterwards. It was kinda boring doing that. But we both pass the different ones and we went out on the floor and did some work.
This man is Sem, he is Haitian. He has been in this country for about 8 months. He has a wife and no children at this time. He is learning English at a school down the road. He really was trying to listen and learn on the videos. Like I said we passed the test and got to do some real work.
I was hired to do what they call Facing the aisles. What that is? I pull the stock to the front of the shelves and make it look like the shelves are full. As this was our first night working there, I had a chance to work along side Sem. He was hired to stock the shelves at night time. So I guess we will be seeing each other as the night goes on.
At the end of the night. These are the items we found on the shelves that don't belong there. Plus taking empty boxes off too. At the end of the evening my knees were hurting a little. But in the long run, I felt pretty good. We worked until after midnight. But it was rewarding to see how nice the store looks after we get it all FACED OFF.
Hey it brought back many memories of when I was 18 years old. I worked in a store back in Webster, New York. It is called Wegmans. That was my third job I ever had. I stocked shelves and faced off the aisles.
The real neat thing was last night. I walked in the back room where the stock is stored. It smelled just like when I was working at Wegmans. I guess that smell is in each and everyone of the grocery stores.
I am so blessed to be able to work an make a couple of bucks here and there. He has always provide and He will not let me go.
