Okay, this is Tuesday morning. Jon Bunch and I had breakfast at a new and old restaurant. I mean is this restaurant I am talking about has been there for many years. It just changed hands about four months ago. So, Jon asked where would you like to go for breakfast? So, as we were talking about it, he asked about the Sacred Grounds Corner Cafe? Well, I have been told that they have some good food. Why not try it? I told him. So, we drove over there and had a great breakfast and just sat there and talked for a hour or so. Just trying to get caught up on all that has been going on in his life.
I have known Jon for over 25 years plus. He is the one that took over my ministry at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I used to oversee the Parking Ministry. That meant, our jobs were to get cars in and out of the parking areas that we have. While I was doing that, we had over 48 volunteers.
Back then we had Wednesday night two church services and Saturday night. Then on Sunday we had three church services. Our ministry was to get cars parked and then after service get them out as soon as possible. The reason was we had another service getting ready to start up. Now since COVID 19 things have changed a lot. Church cut back on services. Now there is only Saturday evening, Then Sunday, I think they still have three services. But the sad part is, they are not coming out like they used to. The seats are only about third full. So,, parking cars is not that big of a deal.
Okay, so back in 2005, I was leaving to go to the Bahamas to oversee The Adventure Learning Centre Camp and the Maintenace department. So, I needed a replacement for that ministry and Jon Bunch came to mind and I asked him if he would like to help me out for a while of so? He told me sure, why not? So ever since then has been the man to oversee it.
Okay Jon has many other things going on in his life. The sad part is, his wife Jan. passed away last March and then his mom passed away month later.
So, as we sat there and tried to get caught up, we had much to talk about. Plus, I was asking a lot about who is where and what has happening?
I can tell you this, I really do miss Calvary very much and all that use to go on there.
Plus, I miss The Bahamas too. I have been very much involved with many things at Calvary, 16 years I was on staff. Then at the ALC, I was there for 8 years. Crazy how thing keep going on.
Okay, that is enough about all that.
Okay, that is enough about all that.
On Wednesday afternoon, Jeanne and I had appointment at Doctor Jones office. He had them take another set of X rays and looking at them, that is my right knee on the left, then right one. The last one it is bent, a little. The doctor looked at them and asked if I had any pains? Not really pains. Just when I sit for while, my knees get stiff. So, it takes me a few minutes to get up and walk around.
So he told me that all is great and if we have any problems to come on back. But today was our final appointment. I shook his hand and thanked him very much for all he did for me.
Okay now this is Thursday morning. We will be feeding around 30 folks. This is the Top 10 Seniors. Plus, family. So, we are making Scrammed eggs, French Toast, bacon, sausage, fruit bowl. Plus had small croissants. Home fries too. I think there was more, but all I know we needed to get the food out by 8am.
Oh, we had Stata (eggs plus) Then Bread pudding.
It was a somewhat good turnout. The sad part is, there was 9 girls and one boy that made the Top 10 Seniors Students of Westwood High School.
I was talking with one of the police officers that oversee the security at the school.
I made a comment about, back in my time of school.1960's I really remember the top students then, were boys. It just was not on the minds of the girls to show their skills, back then.
Maybe this is showing you my age? I am old fashion.
We I believe that everyone enjoyed themselves and we had a little food left over, for the students that helped us put this all together. I had to make more eggs and bacon. But we all got something to eat and it all went well.
Right now, is Saturday morning. I could not sleep. I start thinking about all we have in front of us this day. My mind starts racing and asking, are we ready for today???? So, I got up at 3:45am. My little girl is still sleeping. Maybe until 9am?
I know my baby has it all written down and she believes we are doing well.
Plus, she will ask me, WHO IS REALLY IN CONTROL???
That is Jesus Christ Our KING.
Thank you, Lord for such a Godly woman.
Oh, I didn't tell you what we are doing today.
We are providing appetizers for the Senior Prom this evening.
I will share more with you in the next couple of days.
Please say a prayer or two for us. Looking at about 275 seniors and chaperones.
Prayerfully we will have around 8 students helping us all day long and evening.
Preparing the food and servicing it too.
This last week, most everything it made and just needs to be put on serving platters and Chafers, to keep the food warm.
PRAISE THE LORD FOR ALL HE IS DOING IN OUR LIVES.
