Okay how did we get to do this? Our church, The Crossing Community Church, was having this Trunk and Treat festival on Halloween evening.
We wanted to volunteer doing hot dogs or whatever else was needed. But we heard from the pulpit asking for cars to give out candy, many times.
Okay we talked about it and took a ride to Walmart. Walked in and saw many items are already gone. We bought some Halloween table clothes and a couple of head gears for us.
For me, there was a wig that had cullers in it. Looking like an older woman. Then Jeanne found this tut tut. She was going to wear it on her head. Plus was bought some window decals. Plus, something else. But then we drove over to the Dollar Tree. found out they had their Christmas things out already. We found some other things for the car.
While walking around in there. We talked it over. We both don't really think Halloween is something to celebrate.
Okay how about decorating our car with Christmas? Okay we bought everything Christmas. Now remember this is Sunday night. The Dollar Tree was closing. So, I brought in the items we bought Dollar Tree back in and got our stuff exchanged and afterwards I took back Walmart too. Thinking Tuesday is Halloween, and they always reduce their prices on holiday things.
Got our money back and even went and bought more at Dollar Tree.
This is Pastor John in the cage. He was kind of nice to the people. Most times guys in the cage are loud and yelling saying things, you are weak, you can't hit anything.
John was saying, come on you can do it.
And she did, BAM John was in the water. It really was nice to see the folks that did come out and having some fun.
I was Santa Claus, and my wife was a Reindeer.
Overall, it was a small turn out but the ones that were there, had some fun and laughs.
There goes my little reindeer, going over to talk with some folks that were sitting in their cars.
My little girl sure knows how the make things happen. We didn't have anything made up for our car. So, Jeanne bought some snowflakes, and we taped them to a paper tablecloth and hung it up for our background. Plus, most of everything we used was from Dollar Tree. Except the Nutcracker and gold like Christmas trees, plus we bought the candy at Sam's Club.
It really was an enjoyable evening and I know my baby had some fun too.
Hey, just a side note. Some of the little children came up to our car and just looked at me. Some asked me, isn't it Halloween???
Jeanne told them, Jesus is why we are here at church. So why not celebrate His Birthday too.
One little girl was kind of scared of me. I got down to her level and talked her into getting some candy and she became my friend.
As the children walked away, I told them all, See you in a month or so.
As we were packing up our car, I saw these kids out there, shooting baskets. The one dressed up as one of Sponge Bob Square Pants, friend. I had to look it up on Google, Patrick Star. It was cute costume.
Well, folks I am not sure about you, but Jeanne and I really don't like Halloween anymore.
Before I became a Christian, I really enjoyed going out and getting candy and when we got older, I would go out to the bars and have a great time.
BUT now, Jeanne doesn't like scary movies or do anything about this day. I agree whole heartly.
Since I have been with Jeanne, Christmas is our favorite holiday. So why not celebrate every day we can. Thank you, Jesus, for coming to give us salvation thru Him.
