This is my buddy, Joe. I have known him since 2005. he is a polit and he has been helping the Adventure Learning Centre for many years before I meet him.
That's Mike (mechanic) walking towards the hanger. We are pretty much ready to fly over.
This is the runway Joe uses. It right around the corner for his house.
Okay there a couple of things we need to do before heading over to the Bahamas, first is stop at the Okeechobee Airport, here we will be doing three things. First fill up with gas ($6.16 a gallon). Then see the customs officer and then get some breakfast.
This is the airport restaurant. We all ate something and now heading over to the Bahamas.
Okay now we are ready to head over. This is Mike and Joe.
Folks if you ever get a change to fly in a smaller plane, please do it a rush. Plus, you can see so much more when you are this close to the earth.
It was a little longer ride than planned. Bahamas is repairing the main landing strip. So Joe had to take a run around the islands before we could land.
But we are now landing. Thank you Jesus, looking at the fuel gauge we used a little more than normal.
This was our main reason for coming over here. The last time we were here, Joe, Mike and I went and looked at this Jeep to see if it is a good investment? So, after we left in April, Mark went back to the guy and bought it. While I used to live here. We had a train to pull a cart around the back of the property and show the kids and anyone that wanted to see our wetlands. Plus, there are other things to see too. But during the year 2019-2020. COVD hit everywhere in the world. It really hurt the Bahamas for over 4 years, these islands were pretty much shut down.
Unfortunately, during that time, there was a Bahamian that was overseeing the Adventure Learning Centre. all I know is it has taken these last two years to somewhat recover.
The am not sure but pretty much everything was missing. Train, backhoe, four buses. all the animals.
The best part is everything is it's replaceable. and has been happening because of
Our Lord Jesus Christ is still in control.
Okay back to the story, So, Joe and Mike looked at the Jeep and found the leak. It's a sending unit on the transmission or the rearend.
Then they worked on the Shuttle Bus. The air conditioner has not been blowing clod air out. They put one can of freon in and then checked out Marks van. Pretty much did the same. But needed another hose that adapted to his van and the can of freon. So, I drove over the Regals Auto Part Store. There was, two different kinds of hose. I bought the cheaper one. Got back and found it didn't work. I drove back and get the other one and got back and it worked great.
Then Mark brought is van over to the tent after we moved it out. Pulled the driver side tire and took a look to make sure Mark got the correct strut. Which it was. It took a little longer than planned. But by 4pm. we were done for the day. Sat around and talked a little more about what the next thing we will be doing.
Okay these some people that live here in the Bahamas.
From left to right, Kim (Mark's wife) (son) Adam. daughter (forgot her name) Mike on the righthand rear. Then Joe, Andrew and his wife Ashly (I think)
We are eating at Twin Brothers Restaurant. The area is called Arawaki Cay. There are like 20 some restaurants along the canal near downtown Nassau.
These are called quenepas. The Bahamians love these. During the season, people sell them on road.
This was worth the trip alone. This was my dinner.
Here you can see how to eat the Quenepas.
After leaving here, Joe asked me to drive home. Which I do enjoy driving during the day. While I lived there. I really did like driving at night. The reason is Bahamians drive on the lefthand side of the road. So,these cars and truck that come over here from the states. We drive on the righthand side. So, the Headlight are set up to look to the righthand side of the road. So, that means the headlights shine right into your eyes driving at night.
Folks I will part two the next time.
I am home now and have many more stories to share.
