Jeanne set this up on Friday evening, before we went to bed. This is called the chain fire. Or something like that. If you look, there is no charcoal in the centre of the grill. it is running along the outside. This way the fire stays the same temp during the smoking of the meat.
We got up on Saturday morning at 4:30am. Need to get the fire started and smoke some brisket.
The hard part was, during the afternoon, the rains kept coming. So the fire didn't go out, but got cooled off. We even started up the small grill too. That was for the ribs.
But at the end, around 3:30pm. The brisket was up to temp. 170. Then we had to take it off and wrap it in foil and put it back on. Now the temp in the brisket needs to get up to 205 degrees. Which at around 4pm it hit the mark. Great calling honey. You asked everyone to come around 4 pm.
Okay now had to take off the brisket of the fire and put it in a colder. There it is going to rest. Folks all showed up and the party was on it way.
We had Corn bread pudding, Pat (Roy's wife and Jeanne made that. The beans came from Ken's wife, Marissa. The coleslaw, came from Towanda, Julian's wife. They bought it at Moonswiners.
The biscuits, Pat and Jeanne made. I guess we have everything on the table and let us pray and get some good food.
Okay who is who? Green top, Anne,(teacher) then to the left, Marlssa, Ken (teachers) (blue shirt) her hubby, Cooper their daughter, Pat and Roy (friends and coworker) . Then Towanda, (Julian's wife)
On the right hand side, Jeanne my little girl, (blue top) then Julian, (teacher) (black and gold jacket)
Has the evening was winding down. Jeanne asked me to start a fire in the pit. which I did. It really started up pretty easy. It was getting a little chilly out there. The fire was a nice touch. I think half of the folks came around it and sat there and just to get a little warmer plus, had a good time.
Oh there was chocolate cake, Anne brought for us too. That didn't come our until after dinner was some what ,finishing up.
You can see pretty much, everyone is putting on a jacket of some kind.
Ken, he was being a good boy, just keeping everyone smiling and laughing the whole evening. He really is funny and entertaining.
At the end we all said our good byes and thanked everyone for coming. Pat and Roy stayed a little longer, just showing them our house and all that is going on in it. Plus we talked about, maybe going to the county fair this next week or so?
It really was nice of everyone to come and just hang with us a while.
You can see I need to put up more lights. We have, street lights, that Jeanne had in her shop, a while back. So that might be my next project?
It is funny but I think I will always have something more to do in or out of our home? I am just so blessed to call this our home and just knowing Our Lord is the One that provides for us. So He is definitely is in charge, too.
