It is so neat to see how our Lord set things in motion. If you have been following my blog you can see what these students have been studying? Yes it is a class called EMS 170-Small Island Sustainability it is 4 credits for this one course. If you read the first picture of Mr Kennedy you will see what he was talking about: Climate Change and its effects on small island developing states(sids) He is one of the most well known attorney on Natural Resources Defense Council. He has been dealing with big business that have pollution problems. Him and others have started a non profit organization called Waterkeepers Alliance. Back in the early 70's Hudson River was under attack. So Mr Robert looked into how to get the river back to the people that used it for fishing and other things. At that time a oil pipe line was dumping into the Hudson River. They found out that there was law in the books back in 1800;s that said the water ways are for the people not for business. Then he started River Keepers. Then move on to helping many other rivers and water ways through out the world. This Water keepers has been around now for 40 years.
While Mr. Robert shared about how bad our reefs are becoming with oil and other pollutions that are killing them.Our main problem is our electric company polluting a place called Cifton Pier. It is so neat how he explained all this and we were there this last Monday and saw the oil and even smelled it in the air while down near the water.
How to stop it? Well we need to tell our MPs.here and show that this really is a problem and if we don't do anything this area will be died in a couple of years. Really was a eye opener to see and then hear about it.
